27 May 2014

Breakfast: oatmeal and coffee and a chunk of dark chocolate. (I was feeling a bit low this morning so I tested my blood right after I got to work; I happened to have my meter as I planned on going to the clinic after work to get more test stripes. My score was 98, which is not classically low, even for me. It was, however, low enough to make me feel crappy...)

Snack: Rick Sloan brought in donuts so I had one...

Lunch:

Snack at the Red Cross after the blood drive:

Dinner:  roman with two hot dogs and a can of Pepsi One. I've gotten too used to this stuff...

25 May 2014

Breakfast: three eggs, scrambled and cooked in the microwave with some chunks of corned beef stacked on them and with a can of Pepsi One to drink.

Lunch: at the Boot Hill Casino, where we ate at the snack bar. I had the Blue Plate Special for $5.  This was a fair price and may have been a bit high given the quality of the food. It consisted of:
  • fried chicken stripes (too damn crispy and too well cooked)
  • mashed potatoes (that must have taken a 5 horse power mixer to make as they were rather dry)
  • white gravy (that was actually not bad)
  • a bisquit (a bit too well done)
  • honey for the bisquit (hard to screw up a little packet of honey)
  • and a glass of water...
The person taking the orders was also the fry cook. She was a bit harried and very cranky, with somewhat poor customer relations skills. (I hope that I would be better were I trapped in this job.)  Actually, the case can be made that the order taker/cook was rude.

Snack: at the movie theater, split a large popcorn while watching a superb movie (X Men: Days of Future Past) with Kathie. We both had bottles of water to drink and I found these as good as, if not better, than the "large Diet Pepsi, no ice, please" that we normally get...

Dinner:  Healthy Choice and glass of cold water...

6 May 2014

Breakfast: cheerios and coffee

Lunch: McDonalds for:
  • a ¼ pounder with only ketchup and mustard
  • large fries
  • large chocolate milk shake
This meal was a complete disappointment.

My hamburger came with a small amount of ketchup and mustard and with both sides of the burger coated in melted "cheese".  I don't like cheese or "liquid cheese" on hambergers.

The fries were limp and lacked one ingredient: taste.

Their current generation of "milk shakes" are far from as good as they were in the 1960s, 1970s and even 1980s. They just plain suck!

Dinner: We went to the "Prime On The Nine" and were disappointed. I had:
  • a salad with Feta cheese, this was quite nice
  • an allegedly 14 oz ribeye steak that looked a lot less than this and was overcooked
  • a small scoop of mashed potatoes with a token amount of white gravy
  • two Buds
  • no roll
  • desert was a tiny slice of somewhat dry chocolate cake with a rather crappy frosting
You know a restaurant has problems when your waiter tells you the cake was freshly made but looks small and loos dry...

I took home about half the steak and most of the mashed potatoes.

The owner did not have "worried feet" and did not drop by to ask us what we thought of the meal. The meal simply wasn't cost effective and I think we'll go to Casey's Cowtown or Montana Mike's or even Bad Habits the next time we want a classy steak...
