Lunch: three slices of pizza (at work) and a can of Pepsi One (I'm getting acclimated to the taste and this is a bit disturbing...)
 
Dinner: Healthy Choice Lemon Pepper Fish, rice and cold water (also at work...)
 
Snack: bag of popcorn and cold water

Breakfast:  Home made SOS on a large hamburger bun and coffee Lunch:  A chicken  breast, rice and a Pepsi Zero
Dinner:  at the Boot Hill Casino Restraunt for
  • a small cup of "Texas Chilli"
  • salad
  • 9 oz prime rib
  • most of a baked potatoe
  • a roll and butter
  • iced  water

We had a waitress who seemed very  unhappy or perhaps ill. She took our orders, brought the food before we were done with our salads and then disappeared until we were done eating. She didn't bring water refills or ask my wife if she wanted another glass of red wine. My wife said "we want to split an order of 'Suicide Death by Chocolate'" and that was needed; "our" waitress apparently hadn't heard that servcers were supposed to try selling the desert.

This was the first time my wife has ever gotten a glass of red wine in a water glass...

Dinner: Healthy Choice Sweet & Tangy Chicken BBQ (Chicken Tenderlions in Whiskey BBQ Saudfe, Corn, Whipped Potatoes and Caramel Apple Dessert) and cold water
 
Snack: 6 little Oreos and cold water

Lunch:  We had lunch at the Boot Hill Museum, where the Santa Fe Trail Association met:
  • fried chicken from Dillions (the previously made order some how got forgotten and they only put in about two chicken legs...this is not the first time they have "lost" special orders...)
  • Kathie's chicken and rice pilof 
  • some kind of cake
  • potatoe casserole
  • bottle of Diet Pepsi
Dinner: We went to Applebys and I had:

  • a nice 12 oz ribeye steak
  • baked potatoe
  • mixed broccoli florets and carrots that were actually cooked enuf

Breakfast:  Kathie's Big Breakfast of:

  • scrambled eggs,
  • bacon,
  • Serri Lee coffee cake and
  • coffee
To this I added 
  • "old" bacon fried in my 10" cast iron fry pan and
  • an egg boiled fried in the bacon fat
Lunch: We went to a Mexican place in Ness City where I had hamburger wrapped in various forms, rice and that almost gravy like bean mixture (I like it mixed with rice even if it does look like diarrhea.)



Dinner: Kathie's compromise form of tuna noodle casserole. It is a compromise between what her Mother made (potatoe chips and no noodles) and what my Mother made (less cheese, noodles, and only a little amount of potatoe chips):

  • boiled noodles
  • 3 can of tuna fish
  • "white" cheese (so-called "casserole" cheese)
  • potatoe chips
  • an oil can size Foster beer

Breakfast: homemade SOS on mashed potatoes and a largish bottle of Diet Pepsi
Lunch: We went to King's Buffet and I had
  • white rice
  • various beef and chicken dishes
  • chocolate ice creamme (a small scoop) with chocolate pudding on it
  • two glasses of "Diet Pepsi"
Dinner:  We went to "Mariah Hills" Restaurant (the best steak place in Dodge City and far superior to the "steak" house we went to in Salem Oregon in January 2010). I had:
  • salad with "French" dressing
  • a baked potatoe - "fully loaded" and
  • a 10 oz fillet Mignon with "Ham's Special Topping"
  • a small desert that appeared to be a no-glutton, chocolate sauce filled-cupcake and
  • two glasses of "Diet Pepsi"
The steak was simply superb!

I had one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. The prices are a bit high but the food makes it worth saving up for. If you live in DDC, you should treat yourself to one of Ham's meals. If you live outside of Dodge City, Kansas, you should make the trek to DDC and go here!

You'll be glad you did!

Ham is the name of the owner and "Ham's Special Topping" is really great and his speciality. To put a steak sauce on a steak (especially a fillet) would be an act of blasphemy akin to putting orange juice in with Dom Peron. 

The service was good and the view of the golf course quite nice.  They have a good selection of drinks, even if they have too many "lite" or "light" drinks. However, "lite" or "light" beers is a plague that afflects many other bars or restraunts. I remember when the US of A was a nation of beer drinkers...

You should also go to the Boot Hill Museum but I digress.

Tuna noodle casserole

"Army" SOS Recipe



Army SOS recipe
Ingredients (Nutrition)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cube beef bouillon
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • 2 ¼ cups milk
  • ¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

DIRECTIONS Brown beef in a large skillet over medium high heat.  Stir in flour, bouillon, salt and pepper.  Saute all together for about 5 minutes or until flour is absorbed.  Gradually stir in milk and Worcestershire sauce.  Bring all to a simmer stirring constantly.  Cook until thickened, about 5 to 10 minutes.  Serve hot!

This turned out quite well...

Lunch:  Long John Silver for a piece of chicken, piece of fish, fries, a couple of bread things and a medium "Diet Pepsi"
