Burnside Bramble

The Burnside Bramble

1.5 oz. House Spirits Aviation gin

.5 oz. Clear Creek Distillery loganberry liqueur

.5 oz. fresh-squeezed lemon juice

.5 oz. simple syrup

1-2 oz. IPA (your choice — I'm not going to tell a Portlander what beer to drink)

Shake the first four ingredients over ice and strain into a short tumbler filled with ice. Top with IPA to taste, and give it a good stir.

This cocktail, like Powell's, is seriously committed to Portland and offers something for everyone. I happen to think it's a lovely drink, light and fizzy, the perfect balance of tart, sweet, and bitter. But when I make it for friends, everybody wants to tinker with the ingredients, adding a little more fruit liqueur, dialing back the lemon juice, or adjusting the ratio of gin to beer.

Breakfast:  We went to IHOP and I had:
* t-bone steak
* 3 eggs over medium
* 3 pancakes (including a midget on the bottom)
* coffeeand iced water
 
Lunch: We went to Papa John's and my ½ had double hamburger and I had a bottle of Diet Pepsi with this...
 
Dinner: baked boneless, skinned chicken, a baked potatoe and a lot of boiled broccoli florets with iced water to drink!
 
Desert: a couple of chunks of dark chocolate

Breakfast: two English muffins with grape jelly and peanut butter and coffee
 
Lunch: several different "Mexican dishs" at a local place and a pastry with honey for desert and a couple of glasses of "Diet Pepsi"
 
Lunch:  Marie Callender's "Country Fried Pork Chop & Gravy" and iced water with a couple of chunks of dark chocolate after eatting. It was after eatting this that I started to feel really shacky...

Breakfast: egg salad sandwich with coffee

Lunch: We went to Long Dong John  Silvers and I had 2 pieces of chicken, 3 pieces of fish, fries, onion rings and a glass of "Diet Pepsi". After I got home, I drank some coffee and then felt ill. I suspect the coffee mixed with the grease and made me feel ill...

Snack: a small piece of dark chocolate

Dinner:  boiled broccoli florets, boiled barley with stewed beef and gravy and iced water...

Snack: some little Oreos due to the PM score of 97!

Several hours after going to bed, I awoke and went to the bathroom and spent some time vomiting and coughing up yellow crap. The next day, Kathie told me she had felt ill, So we figured it had to be greasy food from Long John Silver that upset us. Long John Silver is now on our “don’t visit list…

Lunch: leftover pilaf, a piece of left over chicken and a can of Pepsi Zero.
 
Dinner: we went to Montana Mike and I had:
  • salad with French Dressing
  • 8 oz filet
  • baked potatoe with butter, sour creamme and cheddar cheese
  • two rolls
  • two bottles of Sam Adams Lager

Lunch: at King's Buffet for various chicken and beef dishes with rice and desert and "Diet Pepsi".  There is a strange irony in that once expects little service from a buffet yet one gets some of the best service in town from these waitress, certainly better than from the Casino...

Breakfast: at the still new IHOP where I had a meat omlette, hash brown potatoes and coffee.
 
Lunch: at home, where we had Rubens and a can of Diet Coke
 
Dinner: we went to the Race Track where I had an over priced and poor hamburger, chips and a bottle of Diet Pepsi.
 
Snack: as this was an poor excuse for a meal, I had a peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich when I got home...

Dinner:  We went to the "Boot Hill Boots and Beer Bash" at the new Convention Center. There, the Executive Chef presented some very nice meals, which were matched with different drinks. I also had two chocolate cupcakes that had been made that day in the Boot Hill Museum kitcher. It was all very nice and well worth the money

Dinner: a Healthy Choice beef dish and a chunk of "French Bread" with cinnamon and Splenda and water
 
Sadly, I reacted badly to something and was coughing the rest of the evening.

_____Breakfast: We went to IHOP and I had:
  • 2 pancakes
  • two eggs over medium
  • sirloin tips
  • hash browns
  • coffee and
  • iced water
This was quite and I like the seasoning in the sirloin tips.

________Lunch:  I made a beer and beef stew (beef and Guinness Stew)_and I had this over boiled rice with a can of zero caffeine Diet Coke.
           
             Dinner: We went to Applebys and I had:
  • "twisty" potatoe chips vice the normal baked potatoe slices I expected.
  • fish and chips
  • iced water (I was the designed driver and Kathie the designated drinker)

Breakfast:  3 little eggs cooked in the "omelet maker" (in the microwave), with a couple of slices of corned beef added and a can of Pepsi Zero.
 
Snack: a small amount of Tillamook Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese
 
Lunch:  We had an office luncheon and I had:
  • a nice chicken dish
  • small amount of noodle salad
  • several slices of buttered garlic bread
  • two different type of chocolate cake with vanilla ice creamme
  • some "Diet Coke"
 
Snack:a small piece of dark chocolate
 
Dinner:   I made homemade spethetti sauce and clearly didn't do a very good job of straining out the greece in the strainer. I put the hamburger in the strainer and ran water over it. I should have stirred up the hamburger to do an adequate job of removing the greece. I didn't and kept waking up all night with GURP. The sauce was over noodles and we have garlic bread and I drank a bottle of LandShark.
 
I forgot to bring my pills with me to work and took them about 2 pm. I took the evening pills with dinner and two hours after starting dinner, I had a score of 174. I'm amazed with this figure and I don't know if it should have been lower due to taking my morning pills at 2 pm instead of aroung 6:40 am. Maybe my "normal" evening scores are around this figure anyway?
