¿So we wanted a nice sit-down Saturday breakfast?

Kathie and I have the day off and decided to go some place nice for a sit-down breakfast. I talked her into ordering off the menu vice doing a buffet. I was looking forward to a special morning...

We decided to go out for breakfast and  decided to go to the "Inn Pancake House". There were no cars in the extra parking lot across the street and an elderly woman walking toward the only car in their parking lot.  Kathie said "they must be closed" and we drove around the front of the Inn Pancake House. There was a sign that read We are closed for updates to better serve you.

This is the Dodge City Rodeo Days and there are a lot of people in town. This is a wonderful time for a restaurant to make money. My wife suggested they must have been closed by the Health Department.

We then went to the Dodge House and their parking lot was crammed. We didn't even bother trying to go in...

We went by Kathe's and they were closed.

We went by Mike Casey's "Casey's Cowtown" and there were only two cars out front (including the owner's sister's car).

Kathie was not pleased with "Home of Jo-nes" the last time she went there so we didn't go there. I was happy with them the last time I went there.

"Montana Mike's" and "Applebee's" simply don't serve breakfast!

We tried going to a restaurant my wife had heard of but simply could not find it!

We refuse to go to "Cha-Cha's" Place for various reasons (mainly fucking over the waitresses, not paying her taxes and spending operating funds at the casino in the silly hope she could recoop her business loses...). If the only

We thought about going to a nearby town to have breakfast but didn't feel like driving that far.

We went to McDonald's because they have decaf coffee and Burger King does not. Both are nice places to grab a quick breakfast early on a work day.

Neither are "special" as in "a special place to have a nice sit down breakfast".

As an aside, we were ushers at the Dodge City Rodeo and only paid $2 for the meal and a can of Diet Pepsi.

P.S.: It was only after we had "breakfast" that I remembered that Sonic and Subway Sub have "breakfast". That is, they serve items  from that meal but nothing very great.

Update 4 August 2012: My wife knows some of the waitresses at "Inn Pancake House". She was told that about three weeks ago, the waitresses were yelling at the cooks to get them to work faster. To me, this sounds like a work slowdown on the part of the cooks. Speculation is the cooks were fired and management is rebuilding.
Anthony Michael "Tony" Bourdain  wrote you that you can tell the cleanliness of the kitchen based on the cleanliness of the public toilets. I've always thought their toilets were reasonably clean and does my wife. Thus, their kitchen is probably clean.

Update 5 August 2012: We discussed this with comeone well connected in the business community and found out "Inn Pancake House" was shut down by the state for cleaniness purposes.  I am quite disappointed.
