People think that what they eat daily will always be remembered as normal, yet this isn't true. Someday, my descendants might be amused or appalled at what I eat...

The above written at 7:32 pm, 3 June 2007...
Lunch: At Casey's Cowtown: Large hamberger, fries and "Diet Pepsi"
Dinner: Pizza Hut meat pizza and then (big mistake!), one of my left over chicken legs. This combination led to me taking "Pink".
Pre-Bed Snack: A gin-and-tonic...
Several hours after eatting dinner and about an hour after going to bed, I woke up with my stomach gargling and spitting up liquid stomach crap. I went from lying on my left side to lying on my right side. After another hour, I got up quietly, went to the bathroom and stuck my finger down my throat four times. I still felt crappy but instead of continuing the induced vomiting until I was empty, I went back to bed. A couple of hours later, I woke up with a shot of pure stomach acid in my mouth. I automatically swallowed as I was waking up. Then, I realized the acid had burned my throat and my left nostril as well. (It had come out of my nose...) I took a while before I felt better and went back to sleep...
I gave into temptation at my wife's work place and ordered a homemade choclate milkshake. This was made with real ice creamme and whole milk. It tasted great! An hour or so later, I felt terrible! If I stood up, I felt slightly dizzy, a bit light headed and even a bit out of breath. I had to sit down and then I felt OK. Not really fine but merely OK; at least, much better than standing up. It was several hours before I was back to normal. I can only attribute this to a reaction to the milk shake: maybe it was hyperglycemia?
I have quoted from this website (www.diabetes.org/ type-1-diabetes/ hyperglycemia.jsp ), which spoke of Ketoacidosis
QUOTE:
Ketoacidosis is life-threatening and needs immediate treatment. Symptoms include:
* shortness of breath
* breath that smells fruity
*
nausea and vomiting
*
a very dry mouth
* Talk to your doctor about how to handle this condition
ENDQUOTE:
I certainly had the "shortness of breath" and the "nausea" (but didn't vomit). My mouth was not dry. Well, it was a short term event and hopefully I can change my behavour enough to prevent it from happening again. Then, too, it might have been lactose intolorance...
Lunch: A Healthy Choice meal and a can of D.P.
Dinner: Sunday night: We haven't seen much of each other lately so we went to a movie and had chips and cheese sauce (That had to be sooooo good for me!) and then to Montana Mike's for dinner. There, I had:
Having bad mouthed Budweiser, I should note that one of my favourite beers in real, genuine Michelob Beer. Yes, an Anhauser product!
Michelob beer is simply an outstanding beer that should never have been overshadowed by that horrific "Michelob Ultra".
I can understand why restraunts select the beers they do. They select what they think will sell. So, a beer with flavour like Michelob doesn't sell but the better for you swill does. Why can't people get it through their heads that you drink beer for the enjoyment of drinking a good beer; if you want a drink "good for you", then stick to water! If you want to get drunk, stick with distilled booze!
This town needs a good brew pub but it probably wouldn't last...
Lunch: Healthy Choice pizza

After going to bed, I kept waking up with a mouth full of stomach juices. I would have felt better had I stuck a finger down my throat but I was willing to:
Lunch: At Quisnos: A roast beef samwich (half of a regular actually and put the other half in the refer) and a cup of chicken soup in a "bread bowl". Not bad...
Dinner: The Boot Hill Museum had their annual dinner for their membership: Roast beef, roasted potatoes with onions, creammed corn, a bisquit with honey and water.
Lunch: Some kind of sliced beef with brown sauce, mashed potatoe with brown sauce, roll with butter, small bowl of cottage cheese vice green beans and a couple of glasses of "Diet Pepsi". Something I ate turned my stomach and this isn't the first time I've had this reaction...
Dinner: A bowl of stew I made when Kathie's Father visited, warmed up in the microwave and a can of Diet Pepsi...
Pre-Bed Snack: Gin-and-Tonic...
Lunch: Quixos beef samwhich and "Diet Coke"
Snack: Some well cooked slow cdooker roast beef.
Dinner: Healthy Choice® Chicken Margherita White Meat Chicken With Angel Hair Pasta & Raosted Garlic In Balsamic VInaigrette Sauce and water
Pre-Bed Snack:
Lunch: Sliced roast beef, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, a roll with butter and "Diet Pepsi" at Casey's Cowtown
Dinner: Two pork chops, small amount of potatoes, no-sugar-added Applesauce and a bottler of MGD (Miller Genuine Draft) beer.
The "Big D" before breakfast and immediately after I finished walking 30 minutes on the Sheridan Centre treadmill.
Lunch: Burger King Angus Burger, large sized (Kathie wanted some of my fries) and a large glass of "Diet Coke".
Snack #1: Some dark choclate
Snack #2: A small plain donut at work... You would never know that I'm stressing out about the upcoming A1C test next Wednesday. Maybe, this is a sign of stressing out...
Dinner: South Beach Diet™ Asian Inspired Orange Beef (Beef Slices & Brown Rice In Orange Sauce With Broccoli, Banboo SHoots, & Carrots), a can of D.P. and a handful or two of popcorn before dinner.
Lunch: An Arby's double hamberger, baked potatoe with sour creamme and butter and a glass of "Diet Coke" (actually, a glass of ice flavoured with maybe a quarter of the cup actually being "Diet COke"...)
Snack: A small chunk of sour douogh bread with peanut butter and a can of D.P.
Dinner: Healthy Choice® "Beef Pot Roast With Gravy/ Apple Cranberry Crisp/ Carrots/ Roasted Potatoes" and a can of D.P.
About an hour after eatting, I felt the onset of the "Big D"...
Lunch: My left over pork chop, some potatoes, sour krat and two cans of D.P.
Dinner: South Beach Diet™ Asian Inspired Orange Beef Beef Slices & Brown Rice in Orange Sauce with Broccoli, Bamboo Shoots, & Carrots plus a can of D.P.
"Desert": A small - and I mean small amount of cashews from the office "vending machine"...
Pre-Bed Snack: Small slice of sour dough bread with Tillamock Sharp Cheddar Cheese melted on it and a bottle of "MGD" (Miller Guienine Draft beer)
Lunch: From Bugger King, it was supposed to be an "Anus" -er- "Angus" burger, fries and a diet coke or diet pepsi. Instead, it was those God Awful "Chicken Finger" thingies. My wife had gone to the drive thru and the "Burger King" crew had fucked up the order. It's hard to take time to pull stuff out of the bag and see what you really got when there are people in line behind you...
Dinner: Healhty Choice pot roast, etc (I've described this before...) and a can of Diet Pepsi...
Pre-Bed Snack: peanut butter on a slice of sour dough bread and water...
Lunch: A Healthy Choice meal (I'll have to find the diskette I recorded the origional "food diary" on...) and a can of D.P.
Snack:: After working out (treadmill for 34 minutes and circuit training weight lifting) I was hungry the rest of the afternoon. I had a slice of bread with peanut butter and split (sort of) my Father-In-Law's left over steak. That is, I sliced off the parts that may have had "Father-In-Law" spit and feed those to my dog (he would not have cared) and I ate the rest of the steak! It was good!!
Dinner: I put two pork chops in a pan, covered with a can of sour krat, added a can of potatoes (equivalent to maybe a large potatoe) and another can of sour krat. Then, I brought this mess to a boil, lowered it to a bubbling "simmer" and let it go for 21/2 hours. Every so often, I added water.
This was well done and the food was well done (just a little joke). I liked it; tis the kind of meal my wife does not like and one which I cook when she isn't home...
Pre-Bed Snack: gin-n-tonic
My evening blood sugar was 116! Given that my morning score was 113, this projects I'd had a very good day! I think the workout jazzed uip my metabolism to such an extent that my sugar was very good!
Lunch: At Cesey's Cowtown: Large hamburger, fries and 2 medi7um glasses of "Diet Pepsi".
Events Have Consequences: The "Big D" about an hour after eatting...
Dinner: Boston Market (HOme Style Meals) Beef Sirloin & Noodles (SLiced Beef Sirloin in a Mushroom Gravy over Buttered Egg Noodles), a slice of 12 ghrain bread withg peanut butter and a bottle of MGD.
Pre-Bed Snack:
Lunch: At Casey's Cowtown: Chicken Fried Chicken with white gravy, mashed potatoes with white gravy, corn, a roll with butter and "Diet Pepsi"...
The "Big D" about an hour after eatting and then again (the "Big D") just before dinner...Dinner: My left ove4r piece of steak warmed up, about a cup of boiled white rice, abouth 2/3 that volumn of boiled broccoli florets and a beer.
Lunch: At Montana Mike's: 9 oz sirloin, "loaded" baked potatoe, salad with French dressing.
Dinner: Homemade salad with little "slivers" of ham and "diet" French Dressing...
Oh, a glass of water as well.
Lunch: Mexican at the local mal and 2 glasses of "Diet Pepsi"
Dinner: Homemade beef stew and water.
Pre-Bed Snack: Champaign (I said it was for my brother Jim's 53rd birthday and to celebrate my Father-in-Law being here but it was really to "celebrate" the 3rd anniversary of when I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic...)
Lunch: We finally had the steak that was marinating. I cooked a chunk of sirloin for Kathie, a chunk for me and two T-bones for my Father-In-Law. My sirloin was taking way too long so I left it on the grill, closed the vent openings and had the larger of the two T-bone steaks. We also had baked potatoes (done in the microwave), aspargiuis and water. (I had a can of D.P. as well.)
When I retried my sirloin, it had gone from nearly raw to over done; given it cost about US$800, I am damn sure going to eat it! (My dog, Chewie, which is short for Chewbacca and who I once called "Lord Underbite") isn't getting any of the steak...) I've spoiled him enuf as it is...
Dinner: Healthy Choice® Beef Pot Roast With Gravy/ Apple Cranberry Crisp/ Roasted Potatoes and a can of D.P.
Lunch: Egg salad samwhich around 2 pm as I was still full from breakfast! (I would never have believed this could happen to be 30 years ago. The idea that a "normal" breakfast could fill me up to dinner (evening meal) was incomprehensible...)
Dinner: 2 South Beach™ Breakfast Wraps (the American type), 2 brownies, some no-sugar cookies and some "Little Debbie" powdered sugar donuts and (of course) a can of
D.P...
Pre-bed: Gin-and-tonic and slice of whole wheat bread with peanut butter.

A sign of how well my blood sugar is controlled is how much I have to urinate after going to bed. If I "go" less than 2 hours after crashing, then I did something wrong - ate something wrong - that night. Taking a pea more than two hours after crashing is probably just a normal event.≤
