30 May 2007

Breakfast: Left over steak and potatoe and a couple of left over chicken legs.

Lunch: At Casey's Cowtown: Large hamberger, fries and "Diet Pepsi"

Dinner: Pizza Hut meat pizza and then (big mistake!), one of my left over chicken legs. This combination led to me taking "Pink".

Pre-Bed Snack: A gin-and-tonic...

Several hours after eatting dinner and about an hour after going to bed, I woke up with my stomach gargling and spitting up liquid stomach crap. I went from lying on my left side to lying on my right side. After another hour, I got up quietly, went to the bathroom and stuck my finger down my throat four times. I still felt crappy but instead of continuing the induced vomiting until I was empty, I went back to bed. A couple of hours later, I woke up with a shot of pure stomach acid in my mouth. I automatically swallowed as I was waking up. Then, I realized the acid had burned my throat and my left nostril as well. (It had come out of my nose...) I took a while before I felt better and went back to sleep...

Memorial Day

Breakfast: oatmeal and coffee.

Lunch:
Remnants of the beef stew and a can of D.P.

I gave into temptation at my wife's work place and ordered a homemade choclate milkshake. This was made with real ice creamme and whole milk. It tasted great! An hour or so later, I felt terrible! If I stood up, I felt slightly dizzy, a bit light headed and even a bit out of breath. I had to sit down and then I felt OK. Not really fine but merely OK; at least, much better than standing up. It was several hours before I was back to normal. I can only attribute this to a reaction to the milk shake: maybe it was hyperglycemia?

I have quoted from this website (www.diabetes.org/ type-1-diabetes/ hyperglycemia.jsp ), which spoke of Ketoacidosis
QUOTE:
Ketoacidosis is life-threatening and needs immediate treatment. Symptoms include:

* shortness of breath

* breath that smells fruity

*
nausea and vomiting

*
a very dry mouth
* Talk to your doctor about how to handle this condition
ENDQUOTE:

I certainly had the "shortness of breath" and the "nausea" (but didn't vomit). My mouth was not dry. Well, it was a short term event and hopefully I can change my behavour enough to prevent it from happening again. Then, too, it might have been lactose intolorance...

Dinner: Overly baked chicken legs, boiled cabbage, potatoe and brocolli "florets" and water.

27 May 2007

Breakfast: oatmeal and coffee

Lunch: A Healthy Choice meal and a can of D.P.

Dinner: Sunday night: We haven't seen much of each other lately so we went to a movie and had chips and cheese sauce (That had to be sooooo good for me!) and then to Montana Mike's for dinner. There, I had:

  1. salad with vinigar and oil (they were out of "French" dressing
  2. "Mike's Mighty Meat Meal" (22 oz Sirloin steak)
  3. "fully loaded" baked potatoe
  4. No! choclate cake for desert (I'm already "in training" for my November A1C test...)and a (God Help Me!)
  5. Budweiser beer!
Yes, I wrote Piss-weiser Budweiser!

They were out of any decent beers and I won't drink anything with the words "Light, or "Lite" or "Ultra (as in the abombable "Michelob Ultra). There were some good beers on the menu but the beer man is coming tonight and they were out of the decent beers. So, I choose the Piss-weiser -er- Budweiser over the rest of the pack; I could have had a mixed drink but I'd gotten the desire for a good beer into my head.

Having bad mouthed Budweiser, I should note that one of my favourite beers in real, genuine Michelob Beer. Yes, an Anhauser product!

Michelob beer is simply an outstanding beer that should never have been overshadowed by that horrific "Michelob Ultra".

I can understand why restraunts select the beers they do. They select what they think will sell. So, a beer with flavour like Michelob doesn't sell but the better for you swill does. Why can't people get it through their heads that you drink beer for the enjoyment of drinking a good beer; if you want a drink "good for you", then stick to water! If you want to get drunk, stick with distilled booze!

This town needs a good brew pub but it probably wouldn't last...

Breakfast: oatmeal and coffee

Lunch: Healthy Choice pizza

Dinner: Some kind of "Italian" top-of-the-stove item that featured

  1. mystery meat (might have been chicken)
  2. noodles
  3. tomato sauce and with that:
I had an MGD that tasted great! So, I made the mistake of having a second! It was fine the first ¼rd but the rest was hard to swallow. Probably I was reacting to the dinner.

After going to bed, I kept waking up with a mouth full of stomach juices. I would have felt better had I stuck a finger down my throat but I was willing to:

  1. give in to the tyranny of my stomach
  2. piss off my wife by suggesting she had made a bad dinner selection.
So, I suffered silently for no good reason...

It was very decadant and exactly what I was craving!

Post Dinner: A gin-and-tonic. (I put off my 2-hours-past-eatting-blood-gulose-test since we finished dinner well under two hours before my bedtime...)

Results: I felt bloated and kept burping up crud. I probably should have stuck my finger down my throat and taken care of that bloated feeling but I wasn't about to give into a stomach that doesn't empty fast enuf...

My wife had gone to the drive thru and the "Burger King" crew had fucked up the order. It's hard to take time to pull stuff out of the bag and see what you really got when there are people in line behind you...

Lunch: A Healthy Choice meal (I'll have to find the diskette I recorded the origional "food diary" on...) and a can of D.P.

Snack:: After working out (treadmill for 34 minutes and circuit training weight lifting) I was hungry the rest of the afternoon. I had a slice of bread with peanut butter and split (sort of) my Father-In-Law's left over steak. That is, I sliced off the parts that may have had "Father-In-Law" spit and feed those to my dog (he would not have cared) and I ate the rest of the steak! It was good!!

Dinner: I put two pork chops in a pan, covered with a can of sour krat, added a can of potatoes (equivalent to maybe a large potatoe) and another can of sour krat. Then, I brought this mess to a boil, lowered it to a bubbling "simmer" and let it go for 21/2 hours. Every so often, I added water.

This was well done and the food was well done (just a little joke). I liked it; tis the kind of meal my wife does not like and one which I cook when she isn't home...

Pre-Bed Snack: gin-n-tonic

My evening blood sugar was 116! Given that my morning score was 113, this projects I'd had a very good day! I think the workout jazzed uip my metabolism to such an extent that my sugar was very good!

Breakfast: shredded wheat and coffee

Lunch: Mexican at the local mal and 2 glasses of "Diet Pepsi"

Dinner: Homemade beef stew and water.

Sunday, May 06, 2007

6 May 2007

Breakfast: Shredded wheat and coffee. (I seem to recall a slice of whole wheat toast with peanut butter and a can of D.P.)

Lunch: We finally had the steak that was marinating. I cooked a chunk of sirloin for Kathie, a chunk for me and two T-bones for my Father-In-Law. My sirloin was taking way too long so I left it on the grill, closed the vent openings and had the larger of the two T-bone steaks. We also had baked potatoes (done in the microwave), aspargiuis and water. (I had a can of D.P. as well.)
When I retried my sirloin, it had gone from nearly raw to over done; given it cost about US$800, I am damn sure going to eat it! (My dog, Chewie, which is short for Chewbacca and who I once called "Lord Underbite") isn't getting any of the steak...) I've spoiled him enuf as it is...

D.P...

A sign of how well my blood sugar is controlled is how much I have to urinate after going to bed. If I "go" less than 2 hours after crashing, then I did something wrong - ate something wrong - that night. Taking a pea more than two hours after crashing is probably just a normal event.

The "v" (for "vomit") and "s" for vomit into my mouth and "s"wallow is an indication of how poorly I digest fat. This is simply a "sign" to me that I need to cut down on the faty food I was raised to love eatting. This is a real bitch!
