25 November 2013

_____Breakfast:  </b>an attempt at SOS made with sausage; not too bad and had coffee
________Lunch: left over pizza and cold water
_______Dinner: We went to the Boot Hill Casino Restaurant and I had:

  • salad and
  • a small cup of nice chicken rice soup
  • chicken cordon blue
  • mashed potatoes with white gravy
  • apple cobbler for desert
  • cold water
Kathie ordered their cherry cobbler and was quite upset when our waitress told us they were out. So, she had a second Merlot. Later, she was upset as they have changed the slot machines around and our favorites were not to be found. If other people are equally upset, I can see the attendance going down,,,

The bar which had LandShark on tap is now only open on Friday nights and Saturday nights. They don't have LandShark any more.

Pre-Bed Snack: gin-n-tonic

The service was too fold. Our waitress went off to other tables and ignored us after we got our meals and so I didn't get a refill of my iced water. The manager walked by to see how we were doing and got more iced water for me.

Whiskey Marinade

              Whiskey Marinade
  1. ½ cup whiskey (any brand)
  2. ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  3. ¼ cup olive oil
  4. ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  5. 1 tablespoon salt
  6. 1 tablespoon pepper
  1. Mix sugar and whiskey in a bowl
  2. Mix in oil
  3. Add remaining ingredients
  4. Place meat in air tight container and
  5. Cover with mixture
Let meat marinate for 12 hours, turn it over and put the air tight lid back on for another 12 hours. I use the cheapest whiskey Mr. G's Liquor had. I stole obtained this recipe someplace and I don't recall the particulars.

24 November 2013

Breakfast: We went to IHOP and I had:
  • 2 eggs over medium
  • hash browns
  • sirloin tips
    • with sautéed onions and
    • without mushrooms!
  • 2 pancakes with
    • butter
    • maple syrup
  • coffee and iced water
Lunch: We had:
  • marinated sirloin steak
  • baked potatoe
  • asparagus
  • bottle of Diet Pepsi

I drink bottles of Diet Pepsi very seldom since I've heard it is bad for me!
A note about the service. It was both excellent and good. We gave our orders to a young waitress so was good; the coffee and water and later the food was brought out by the manager. The manager was an excellent waitress. I think she will bring up the quality of the "wait staff" simply by her example!

We were happy with the service and the food.

Snack: piece of dark chocolate

Dinner: Healthy Choice chicken and cold water

Snack: slice of sour dough with peanut butter and grape jelly and a gin-n-tonic

I woke up with a massive dehydration headache and tried to go back to sleep. When I finally got out of bed, both my legs cramped so I ended up stumping out to the kitchen to drink two glasses of water. The odd thing is the cramps were gone before I finished the second glass and the headache gone as I was walking out to the kitchen. I wonder if some of this is psychosomatic?

16 November 2013

_____Breakfast: We went to IHOP and I had:
  • two eggs over medium
  • hash browns
  • chicken fried steak
  • two pancakes
  • coffee and iced water
The food was excellent, the service poor.

We were seated for over a minute before a young waitress gave us our menus and then walked off. After being seated for about four minutes, the manager asked us if our waitress had taken our drink order. We said no so the manager took our coffee and iced water orders.

A couple of minutes later, "our" waitress asked what we wanted to drink. We told her the manager had already taken our drink order. "Oh" is what she said and a different waitress brought the  coffee and water.

We ordered and Kathie asked for the blueberry pancakes without the "compote" (a blueberry and something else topping), no whipped creamme and lots of butter please.

A runner brought out her blueberry pancakes with the compote. Kathie had her take  it back; we didn't notice the runner take the butter. Eventually, the blueberry pancakes, with nothing on them, were brought out. There was no butter.

So, Kathie asked for extra butter. The pancakes had not cooled much when the original waitress brought out a small bowl of butter.

After that, we enjoyed the meal. (I know Kathie over tipped...)

________Lunch:  We went to Montana Mikes in Great Bend Kansas and I had:
  • a large hamburger (I brought one paddy home)
  • French fries
  • rolls while waiting for lunch
  • split an order of an apparently no flour chocolate cake and
  • "Diet Pepsi" without ice
Here is a picture of my "Diet Pepsi without ice"

_______Dinner: A Healthy Choice meatloaf dinner with cold water. I made a batch of homemade French Bread-in-a-can. Kathie said she didn't want any and then it was "I'll try a  sample" and then she ate about ½ of the bread. I figured she would even through I've only known her for about 38 years...

Pre-Bed Snack: two gin-n-tonics and peanuts in the shells

_____Breakfast:  milk toast, coffee and a chunk of dark chocolate

________Lunch: At Casey's Cowtown for a steak sandwich, fries and iced water

Kathie remarked that one of the other board members said he could not have french fries because it raised his blood sugar and I didn't seem to care about it. I told her my morning blood sugar level.  End of subject...

_______Dinner: Dinner:  Healthy Choice Top Chef Chicken Margarita with Balsamic (Chicken Tenderloin's with Angel Hair Pasta, Roasted Garlic & Tomatoes in a Balsamic Vinaigrette Sauce), a chunk of dark chocolate and iced water

Snack: chocolate chip cookies (2)

The first cramp was to my right foot and I drank some water and left some water (in the toilette). The second cramp was to my right calf and this spread to my entire right leg. So, I smeared muscle creamme on my right leg, I waited until the pain mostly went away and went back to bed.

Cramps  really suck!

9 November 2013

_____Breakfast:We went to the Kiwanis pancake feed for sausage, 2 pancakes and coffee

The food went down so good but something about it upset my  stomach and made me feel ill; it was almost like the meal really fucked up my blood sugar. I didn't feel better for several hours. It was  the same at their last pancake feed and the same - to a lesser extent - year before last.

________Lunch: tuna fish sandwiches and cold water

_______Dinner: Kathie made an old favourite, boiled chicken leg.  these were chicken legs boiled in soy sauce and water infused with garlic and ginger.

  • chicken legs boiled in the ginger soy sauce
  • rice pilaf
  • boiled boccie and boiled carrots
  • cold water

Pre-Bed Snack: peanuts and a bottle of LandShark

8 November 2013

_____Breakfast:  scrambled eggs with a chopped up hot dog and coffee
________Lunch: two hot dogs and coffee
_______Dinner: We went to the Boot Hill Casino and I had:

  • salad and some chocolate pudding
  • 8 oz salmon steak
  • safron rice
  • mixed veggies
  • a chocolate cake volcano with fudge sauce
  • iced water
Kathie told me she had read about a chemical in steak that caused folks like me to vomit after eating steak. So, I went with salmon.
We went gambling and I put a $10 bill in. I was gracefully losing my money when I won 1302 "credits" (pennies actually). I had gone up to $2251. I thought about continuing but remembered once deciding that I would cash out as soon as I 'hit it big".,  I cashed out,

Sure, this was a "big win: but considering that I've lost sometime like $40 this year, I won't get too thrilled about it...  (Still, I'm very happy with this win!)

Breakfast: cherios and coffee

Lunch: at a meeting of the Santa Fe Trail Association at the Boot Hill Museum dining room for a variety of chicken, noodle salad, potatoe salad, desert and iced water

Dinner: two hot dogs, 1 hot dog bun (coverered with marjarin and used to "butter up" the corn and two ears of corn on the cob

Before dinner I took a sip of some home made beer I made in late May. It wasn't too bad in early June but was undrinkable swill by last night. It was simply awful and something I am going to poor out in the neighbor's yard (the vacant house north of mine, actually).  I didn't want to risk a repeat of the last night I got sick and blew chunks and I did not...)
