27 February 2007

Pre-Breakfast: Left over piece of great roast beef (about ¼ - ½ cup worth), a McDonald's breakfast potatoe thingie (a co-worker got too many from McD's and didn't want it) and coffee (I'd forgotten to pack a can of D.P. last night...)

Breakfast: Big bowl of oatmeal and a cup of bad coffee (I didn't make it...)

Lunch: Salad and cheese soup at Dillion', with a glass of "Diet Pepsi".

Post Lunch Snack: A small piece of summer sausage and some pieces of chocolate.

Dinner: Appleby's for their Nine (9) oz steak, garlic potatoes, steamed veggies (nearly raw actually) and a couple of glasses of "Diet Pepsi" ("no ice, please...") For desert, we split their TRIPLE CHOCOLATE MELTDOWN™:a chocolate cupcake with fudge sauce in a well (in the cupcake), vanelli ice creamme and dark chocolate drizzled over it all. Very decadent and works against my A1C test this coming 23 May 2007. Oh shit! Oh well!!

When they brought out the steak, I thought it looked too small. I told the waiter "this looks like a 7 oz steak".

He replied "a thick steak looks smaller".

I countered with "it doesn't look like a nine oz steak".

He left.

The manager came back and said "I've had a lot of trouble with my cook; that's a seven oz steak. I'll bring you a nine oz steak."

I said "well, I guess you take this one back".

He said "no" and brought me out the nine oz steak I should have gotten in the first place...

My 2 hours post eating blood sugar test was 186! This isn't too horrible given I'd had mashed potatoes and that killer choclate desert. (It was soooooo good!)

26 February 2007

Pre-breakfast warmup: a bananna and half an apple...

Breakfast:
Healthy Choice® Beef Pot Roast With Gravy / Apple Cranberry Crisp / Roasted Potatoes and a can of D.P.

Snack:
An apple and a half and some Frito's (plus a can of D.P.)

Pre-lunch snack:
One Grandma's® Chocolate Chip cookie "Home style"...

Lunch:
At Bugger Bugger King: An Annis Argus Burger, fries and a rather largist glass of "Diet Coke"(?)

Sunday, February 25, 2007

25 February 2007

Pre-breakfast snack: some fretoes and water...

Breakfast: South Beach Diet Breakfast Wraps All American (Scrambled egg whites, reduced fat ozzarella & nonfat cheddar cheeses, tomatoes, smoked turkey bacon & cheese sauce in a whole wheat tortilla and (of course) a can of D.P.

Having not been filled by this, I had a bowl of soup:

Campbell's Select Gold Label Italian Tomato With Basil & Garlic

Tasts good but has way too much salt! 770mg in a one pint serving!

Lunch: Steak and baked potatoe with boiled broccoli flowers and a couple of cans of D.P. (I really should have had water...)

Snack:
Five pieces of dark choclate because this goes well with the bag of popcorn I ate whilst watching "FIRE SERPENT" on the SciFi Channel. (Actually, recorded from last night...)

Dinner: Large salad with a bowl of cheese soup and water.

Saturday, February 24, 2007

24 February 2007

Breakfast: South Beach breakfast wrap and a D.P. and some left over hamburger/ potato /onion.

Lunch: Hamburgers (2), some chips and a couple of cans of D.P.

Dinner: A bunch of homemade tuna noodle casserole:
  1. 2 cans of tuna
  2. two cans of creamme of mushroom soup
  3. sliced and diced very sharp Tillamook cheddar cheese
  4. some kind of sliced "yellow" cheese
  5. crumbled potatoe chips
  6. uncrumpled potatoe chips
  7. a big glass of bottled water
Snack: A gin-and-tonic... If I can't drink D.P. (Diet Pepsi) because I'm going to bed in 35 minutes, I can at least drink something that might be good for me! I can drink diet tonic water and lime juice, both low cal. I can drink a small amount (one shot) of gin. This is alcohol, which actually helps my body reduce blood sugar and is low cal.

Who'd have thunk it???

Here's a quote from the reference:
If you have diabetes and take insulin shots or oral diabetes pills, you risk low blood sugar when you drink alcohol. To protect yourself, never drink on an empty stomach. Plan to have your drink with a meal or after eating a snack.

I'm a type 2 and low blood sugar is not a real problem for me. So, where is the problem with me having that gin-and-tonic???

23 February 2007

I woke up about four hours after eatting [dinner last night] feeling very hungry. I told myself to go back to sleep and refused to eat anything...

Emergency Snack: I had some left over roast beef to tide me over till breakfast about 7:30. When I got to work, I found there was choclate cake (delicious choclate cake) left over from yesterday's office luncheon. I had three small pieces. I couldn't help myself. I was too hungry.

Oh, well, the A1C isn't until late May and if I eat right, I can still squeeze it down. Also, if I take my diabetes coach's advise and start lifting weights, that will help get the blood sugar under control.

Breakfast: Aunt Jemima Great Starts® Meal Pancakes & Sausage and coffee. (I forgot to bring any D.P.)

Lunch: Taco Bell for that new steak thingie and a taco and a glass of "Diet Pepsi".

Dinner: We went to a surprise birthday party at the local Knights of Columbus Hall. This was:
  1. baked catfish
  2. baked potatoe with sour creamme and "butter"
  3. some baked chopped potatoes
  4. salad with a nice dressing
  5. choclake cake with a nice white dressing
  6. a glass of MGD
Post dinner, pre bedtime: water and my evening pills...

Thursday, February 22, 2007

22 February 2007

Pre-breakfast: Snacked on some leftover beef from last night and drank a cup of coffee and a can of D.P. I'll wake up Kathie at or about 6:45 am and then go to McD's to get us breakfast...

Wednesday, February 21, 2007

Breakrfast: Some creame of wheat, toast and coffee.

Lunch: McDonald's Club salad (with extra croutons) and a can of D.P.

Dinner: Healthy Choice Grilled Chicken Marinara Chicken Breast & Pasta In Marinara Sauce / Broccoli Florets and a can of D.P.

Snack: South Beach Diet 100 Calorie Snack Bar (Peanut Buter Choclate Chip)
I can see why the makers don't worry about people binging on these; eating one was quite sufficient!

They were good but it'll take quite a bit for me to get used to rolled oats "snacks"...

Pre-bed: Some applesauce, a small piece of sausage on a small piece of bread and water (not much).

Sunday, February 18, 2007

18 February 2007

Lunch: Roasted whole chicken, dressing, asparguis and a couple of cans of D.P.

Post lunch#1: About a 1/4 cup of bad coffee and my stomach was "
off to the races..."

Post lunch: Pepto Bismol. I had serious indigestion until almost 5 pm. I went to a Santa Fe Trail Association meeting and had a couple of very small brownies and water. It seems that putting food into my stomach settled it down for a while as did glasses of water.

Dinner: Healthy Choice® Beef Pot Roast with Gravy / Apple Cranberry Crisp / Carrots / Roasted Poatatoes and a can of D.P.

I'm feeling fairly normal and am wondering if I'm nearly over what may be salmonella???

Maybe I should just sent a nasty note to the ConAg Foods Plant (who make Penis Peter Pan peanut butter) or just ask the local WalMart if they'll do the honourable thing and refund me for this peanut butter. After all, WalMart is the "parent company" of Sam's and sam's of Wichita Kansas is where I bought the can of Penis (cause it shafts you) Pan Peanut Butter.

17 February 2007

Breakfast: Bacon and scrambled eggs, a very small piece of toast, a can of D.P.
and some coffee.

Post Dinner "Surprise": I tested tonight rather than last night as
I figured my blood sugar would be "through the roof" after what I
had for dinner. Tonight, it
was through the roof at 168!

168!

That seems to be my favourite bad score...

On a happier note, we did buy the "South Beach Diet" book and will
begin trying that out...

16 Feb ruary 2007

Breakfast: Aunt Jemima® pancakes and sauage and a can of D.P. and some coffee.

Lunch: Wendy's double burger, baked potatoe with sour creamme and "butter" and a glass of "Diet Coke".

I drank some Diet Pepsi and a lot of water in the afternoon. My stomach was upset, I felt queasy and took a couple of shot of "Pink" (Pepto Bismol!) It didn't help enough...

Dinner: At Casey's Cowtown for a large ribeye steak, baked potatoe with sour creamme, corn and two bottles of "MGD" (Miller Genuine Draft beer). Also, had a salad with something Linch dressing before main course.

My stomach was upset and I thought I was going to vomit but I was able to last it out to home. Turned out to be a "lower track problem" (diaherra) and once I took care of that, the fear of vomiting ended...

We saw an article on CNN about the "Peter Pan" Peanut Butter problem (samanella in the peanut butter). I sneered to myself: I was in no danger since my snacking peanut butter is the Sam's Club Brand. I got quite a rude surprise when I realized my Sam's Club Brand peanut butter was really frigging Peter Pan!

I then checked the serial number on the can and it started with "2111", the infamous serial number of the samanella peanut butter!!!

I looked up the sympthoms of samanella and surprise! surprise!! I had the most of the symptoms! Fortunately, the article said this crap would go away in "3 to 7 days"...

None the less, fucking Peter Pan Peanut butter is off my shopping list for all time!!!

(Maybe I'll change my mind in a short period if their factory can be made "clean"; say, in 5 to 10 years?)

I ate part of a bananna and got near instant relief. In the future, I'll make damn sure I take "pink" (bottle or pill) to work with me!

I just checked my pulse and I'm getting longer strings of beats before the arythemeia{sp} begins...

I wonder what the fuck all this means???

Pre-bed snack?: A big swig of "Pink" (Pepto Bismol) and a hot dog nuked in the microwave with ketchup and mustard drizzled over it. I just checked my heartbeat again and it is normal. I wonder why indigestion could fuck it up?

on Diarrhea...

D iarrhea:
I've had "Diarrhea" several times a week (sometimes a couple of times a day!) since I started taking Metformin in the 1000 mg size for type two diabetics in early June or July 2004. (I was diagnosed on 7 May 2004)

I heard a "joke" at work:
Four out of five people suffer from disrrhea. The fifth enjoys it!

I certainly don't enjoy diarrhea but I've gotten used to it. I don't recommend it...
