FIxing to have dinner again at the Book HIll Casino Restaurant tonight....

I am writing these blogs as part of living with diabetes.

My wife and I are going out to dinner tonight at the Boot Hill Casino Restaurant. Based on previous experience, I have the following expectations:

                    Expectation                                                   Reality

__Food:   __poor        __adequate  __excellent      __poor       _ _adequate   __excellent

Service:  __piss poor  __adequate   __good          __piss poor  __adequate  _ _good

We had a new waiter who enthusiastic and tried very well. He actually succeed but needs more experience.

I had:
  • salad with cottage cheese and thousand island dressing
  • two rolls (there were flies buzzing around near the rolls but I ate them anyway)
  • 10 oz prime rib (quite nice and not much waste - fat)
  • an undercooked baked potatoe
  • some chocolate pudding with the salad
  • a really large scoop of vanilla ice creamme with chocolate drizzled on it and whipped creamme
  • a bottle of Budweiser
When I started drinking beer many years ago, I would not touch Bud.  Now, I look at the choice of beers and it is either "lite" or "light" or "Ultra" (watered down pseudo-beer) or something too strong for me. So, Budweiser (not Bud Lite) has become my "go to" beer when I drink outside the house. I am writing this from home and have a Landshark.

There are two bars at the Boot Hill Casino. One is the bar by the resteaurant and it does not have Landshark.  The other bar, the "Saloon",  which had Landshark on tap on 18 May 2012, was closed because management decided that Mondays were too slow to have the Saloon manned and working.

The major problem with the Boot Hill Casino is they are divided into sections that are supposed to be self supporting. They are:
  • gambling
  • restaurant
  • bar and Saloon
  • Miss Kittie's Store  closed for the lack of sales of their overpriced items...
The restaurant is retreating from full service and I would not be surprised if it fell  apart completely withing 5 years...
