24 June 2012

I slept horribly last night.  I was confortably asleep when I awoke to an intense pain across my abdomin just below my breast bone.  After a few minutes, I went to the Hotel bathrooon and drank some anti-acid. I also took a couple of anti-pain pills and went back to bed.  There, I kept rolling from my left side to right side and back to my back.

Then, I went to the bathroom and drank a couple of glasses of cold water.  My water and stomach contents did not stay down!  I barfed but this did not help me anyway!  I also had "lower digestive track problems" (diahreia) I spent the rest of the night on my right side, then on my back (with the initial high shot of pain).  After being on my back, I went back to my right side and had tghe same surge of pain.

Finally, I decided to take a risk and sleep on my left side. The pain surge was minor and didn't last long.  I finally got some sleep.  Kathie had a hard time getting me out of bed.

_____Breakfast:  at the Wichita Double Tree Restraunt where I took it easy on the buffet:
  • pork SOS on baked potatoe chunks and
  • a soft boiled egg on a bisuit, with a slice of ham between the two and a cheese sauce over it all. We don't remember what this is called
  • coffee and
  • iced water (Kathie figured I was probably dehydrated)
________Lunch: a Healthy Choice fish meal and iced water

At 4:21 pm, my stomach has stgarted hurting again.  Time for some cold water.

_______Dinner: We went to Sonic and I ordered the chicken stripes and got "Tator Tots" when I thought I was going to get french fries and also got two onion rings thrown in. I had a "Diet Coke". After we had waited for about 8 minutes, Kathie rang the bell and got "can we help you"? "Yes, we'd like our order." "Ah, it's ah, coming right now!"

It was clear the clerk who took our order had lost our order. If we had quietly pulled out and gone elsewhere, they may never have discovered this!

Anyway, I had the chicken, a bite of one onion ring and several "tator tots". (I don't like them...)

The service was extremely poor and they are on out "invisible store list" for the time being...

Pre-Bed Snack: a couple of glasses of water. After this morning's stomach debachle and given my stomach still hurts, I am on the wagon for the foreseeable future!

19 May 2012

Breakfast:  A peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich on toasted sour dough and coffee

Lunch: We went to Napoli's at the Garden City, Kansas airport for:
  • fresh made bread with nice butter
  • spaghetti with meat sauce, meat balls and sausage slices
  • "Diet Pepsi", 2 glasses
Food excellent, service excellent

Dinner: at the Dodge City "Boot Hill Casino" restaurant and then the Saloon
  • salad
  • a small cup of potatoe soup
  • several tablespoons of what felt and tasted like instant vanilla pudding
  • 12 oz char broiled rib eye steak
  • large baked potatoe with
    • butter,
    • sour creamme
    • and unfortunately the bacon
  • two Budweiser
  • glass of iced water
Food excellent, service extremely bad

Casino at the "Boot Hill Casino": I had a Strawberry Dacheri while sitting at a table reading "Destroyer of Worlds" by Larry Niven (wonderful novel). Then, I went and sat next to Kathie at the penny slots and I won some and lost some. I think I came out about 26¢ ahead; I hope the IRS is not expecting me to declare this massive income next year. How about the $8 I lost two months ago?

Excellent Service:  We had lunch at Napoli's where we were greeted quickly and taken to a table. The waitress was clearly watching us and attended us quickly. It made for a very nice experience. Our waitress was quick to ask if we wanted more rolls, if I wanted another "Diet Pepsi" or if Kathie wanted another water. She didn't fawn on us and handled her duties with charm and grace.

Piss poor service: When we ate dinner, "our" waiter had maybe five (5) tables. He took our order, didn't know what beers he had and didn't have a list. I settled on my new default, Budweiser, as I like lagers, don't like dark beers, dislike "lite" or "light" beers on principle or their poor taste and despise "Michelob  ULTRA".

Our dinner was brought out by a "runner".
"Our" waiter was busy at his other tables and simply did not wander down our way. I had to wave my empty Bud at him as he hustled past our table. (No, he did not drop by to ask if we wanted anything.)
"Our" waiter dropped off the bill without asking if we wanted desert. We did not want desert but we did want to be asked and to be given the chance to say no.

Excellent service: I had a Strawberry Daiquiri at the bar and then went to see how Kathie was doing. After she blew through a $20, we went back to the bar. There, Kathie noticed they had "Land Shark" on tap. I immediately order a glass and said "our waiter did not tell us about the Land Shark". She replied, "I don't think he knows".

The bar tender handled her waitress well, paid attention to her customers and had a nice sense of humour. Kathie and I played the "poker machines" and I lost $380.
