Lunch: At "Red Lobster":

We were "spared" the agony of having to decide on desert when we were brougth the bill without being asked iff'n we wanted desert!

Snack:On of those cheese bisquits and some nuts and a cup of coffee (bad coffee) and a cup of English tea that was quite nice. I made the tea, the Mid Continent Hilton in Wichita Kansas made the coffee...

I had asked for a bag to haul off the two cheese bisquits we had left over and the waitress had brouht us a bag of fresh hot ones! For that, she got an extra two dollars on her tip...

08 February 2008

Breakfast: Cherrios, toast with peanut butter and honey, 2 cans of DP and a cup of coffee. (Something made me ill last night and the vomiting was the hardest I've had in many months)

Lunch: A piece of chicken, an orange and a container of strawberry yogurt.

Dinner: We had dinner at the Dinner Theater in Dodge City. The meal was

  • a salad
  • a nice little steak
  • small amount of mashed sweet potatoes (really quite nice)
  • green beans that I ignored and
  • a desert of
    • strawberries,
    • some kind of cake and
    • some identified ingredients!

Pre-Bed Snack: Since I decided to check my blood two hours after eatting desert, I ended up testing said blood just before going to bed. So, alas, no desert of gin-n-tonic althought I did had a slice of bread with peanut butter on it...

Sunday, February 03, 2008

3 February 2008

Breakfast: A ballony samwhich, a bag of those Cheet-Its and a can of DP.

Snack:
A small bag of Oreo cookies (and I wonder why I seem to be gaining weight?)

Lunch:
My wife's rubans and potatoe chips and a can of DP.

Dinner:
Brots steeped in beer, onions and peppers (2), potatoe chips, some potatoe wedges from Wally World and some cole slau also from the Wally World "delli" section. (They make the 14th Dillions "delli" section look really good!) and water. For desert, I made some no-fat choclate pudding and ate a little. Afterwards, I had a "single" glass of gin-n-tonic.

Going to bed was fine and uneventful...
About 1½ hours after going to bed, I woke thinking that I was chocking on some salavi. I thought it was silly of me to do this, conviently forgetting that I had been asleep when this had happened!

It took a very long time for the coughing to settle down; not the sign of chocking on spit but the sign of something worst!

After a few more minutes, I left myself realize that I had some kind of food poisoning, put on my zorries (not flip-flops!) and trundled into the bathroom. There, I was blowing chunks as soon as I got the toilet lid up.

This is a good sign that I'm really sick and not just irritated from my stomach not properly emptying! In that case, I have to put my finger down my throat to initiate the vomiting...

After I been coughing and then vomiting for several minutes, I reached a brief break and that was when my wife opened the bedroom door (I was in the main bedroom bathroom) and asked:

"Are you all right?"

I feel better now."

"Are you vomiting?

"Not now, dear."

"Are you vomiting? Do you need to go to the doctor?"

"I'm feeling better. I don't need to go to the doctor! (Like I really want to go to the emergency room simply because I'm barfing!)

"It's psycosomatic. It's all in your head."

"Well, not really."

"You get a tickle in your throat and you panic and start vomiting. Just try to resist!

Humm, it is a lot more complicated than that and the vomit will come out when it will. No, it really isn't "in my head"...

"Have you taken any Pepto Bismol?

"No but I will.

"Was it my cooking? Did you eat something too rich before going to bed?

Maybe I did when I ate the pudding or maybe it was the balonni samwhich I had for breakfast or I could just blame it on Wally World (always a good choice compared to taking the insane risk of blaming it on my wife!

She left, I blew chunks a couple more time and stood there till I thougth it was safe for me to goto bed. I went back to bed and took some Pepto Bismol before settling in.

After she came to bed, I realized that my breathing was difficult. When I get vomiting from actually being sick, it ends up constricting my breathing tubes. So, I got up, trundled out to the kitchen (taking care to not step on my older cat who was stretched out in the living room doing his "dig me routine and used my inhaler. This worked fine and I went back to bed and slept fairly well...

01 February 2008

Breakfast: Left over steak, baked potatoe and roll from last night.

Lunch: A container of strawberry yogurt, three little "oranges" and water. I had a slice of boloney (warmed in the microwave) when I got home.

Snack: The left over cake (about a half piece) from last night.

Dinner: I cooked three pieces of skinless boneless chicken in the George Forman grill (a nice machine), maybe 1½ cups of barley and a bunch of broccoli florets. This washed down with my new evening drink: cold water...

The happy news is that my blood sugar was quite good - 118 - in spite of having cake in the late afternoon.

1 February 2008

Breakfast: 2nd try at logging breakfast:
  • left over steak (small amount),
  • baked potatoes,

31 January 2008

Breakfast: At Burger King: SOS, potatoe thingies, coffee

Lunch: At Boot Hill, a roast beef and cdheese samwhich, chips and ice tea.

Dinner: At Montana Mike's:

  • Salad with French dressing,
  • a 20 oz steak (I took a fair amount home,
  • baked potatoe,
  • big roll and butter and
  • several (3?) glasses of ice water...

Pre-Bed Snack: Pink! Well, Pepto Bismol...

31 October 2008

Breakfast: A single ham, "scrambled egg", cheddar cheese on a bisquit samwhich and a cup of coffee.

Lunch:
An orange, a container of strawberry yogurt and at home, a chicken breast from Dillins plus a can of DP. About a ¼ to ¾ of an hour later, I was definitely feeling hunger so I had a package of "Little Debbies" powder sugar donuts and a cup of coffee. That set me to rights (as the Brits say).

Dinner:
Boiled chicken with boiled broccoli florets and some white rice (about a ¼ of a cup unboiled) and (of course) a can of DP.

Snack A gin-n-tonic in a coffee cup and a peanut butter and low sugar grape jelly samwhich on a single slice of sour dough bread.

Sunday, January 27, 2008

27 January 2008

Snack: A small piece of the hamberger left over from nigth before last...

Breakfast: Hungry-Man Boneless Pork (Rib Shaped Patties in Barbecue Sauce with Mashed Potatoes, Corn & a Brownie) and a can of DP.

It tasted good but was somewhat more than I am currently used to eatting at one settint! So, tomorrow I plan on bringing oatmeal. This will be a lessor amount of food and might be better for me cholesterol-wise (however, pork is said to be low in cholestrerol and my cholesterol remains "good". I just wish I could say the same thing about my A1C...)

Lunch:
Baked chicken , rice pilof, broccoli florets and two cans of DP.

Dinner:

Pre-Bed Snack:

26 January 2008

Breakfast: Jimmy Dean Bereakfast Bowls "Sausage (Eggs, Potatoes, Sausage & Cheddar Cheese), a small piece of hamberger (left over from last night) and a can of DP.

Snack: Some hamberger left over from last night...

Lunch: At Perkins in Great Bend Kansas:

  • open face roast beef samwhich
  • mashed potatoes
  • two glasses of "Diet Coke"
About an hour after eatting, I had quite the case of trots. It occurred to me that drinking restraunt "Diet Pepsi" or "Diet Coke" was doing this to me. It could be that each (esp. Diet Coke) contain chemicals that act as a laxative upon me...

Dinner: From Long Dong John Silvers:

  • two fish "planks",
  • French fries (both mine and Kathie's - I was hungry!
  • the little bowl of cole slau - we got of these so it looks like one of us got sorted!
  • and part of the "Diet Coke" she bought for me
I didn't drink a lot of this "Diet Coke" since it was too close to me bedtime...

Snack: A gin-n-tonic, which oddly enough, I didn't want after the first couple of sips. I finished it but now think I should have palmed it off on Kathie just as she pawned off her "French Fries" onto me...

25 January 2008

Breakfast: Aunt Jemima pancakes and Sausage, coffee and a can of DP.

Snack: One of those cheese crackers and a can of DP.

Lunch: Wendy's for a

  • hamburger (burnt or dried out, who could tell?),
  • baked potatoe with sour creamme and butter,
  • a medium "Diet Coke".
This was our last visit to Wendy's for the forseeable future. They stopped serving the specific class of samwhichs (Frenia?) that Kathie liked and so she told me "we're not coming back!" That means we aren't going to:
  • Wendy's for the aforementioned reason
  • Arby's since they got rid of the drink Kathie liked and they have those God Awful excuses for "French Fries" (my reason for not going)
  • The "Rat" (i.e. Kentucky Fried Chicken) since
    • They are too damn expensive and
    • I've gotten raw chicken there twice in the past 9 years!

Snack: At the movie theatre: nachoes with two cheese "trays" and a medium "Diet Pepsi"

Dinner: About a half pound of well cooked hamberger, a small potatoe and water.

My blood sugar reading two hours later was one of the lowest it has been in years yet I ended up peeing twice during the night. A low number suggests either my meter is going bad or I had low blood sugar (maybe the snack and the half hour on the treadmill helped?) The peeing twice suggests that my diabetes wasn't under control last evening.

24f January 2008

Breakfast: McDonald's breakfast of:
  • "scrambled eggs",
  • sausage pattie,
  • potatoe thingie and
  • a can of DP.

Lunch: At Boot Hill, a large cup of potatoe soup, several saltine crackers, a bag of chips and a ½ pint of water.

Snack: Peanut butter on slice of sour dough bread and a gin-n-tonic.

Dinner: Big chunk of hamburger (96/04 meat to fat), covered with yogurt and baked in the over, big helping of rice (they didn't have barley at the 14TH Dillions and a beer (MGD). I thought this wouod upset my stomach later but it didn't. I was hungry and ate ½ of the hamberger; I didn't feel so hungry after I started the rest and an hour later, I wishsed that I hadn't eatten all the hamberger. Ah, well...

23 January 2008

Breakfast: Three poached eggs (I left them in the boiling water far too long and the yokes were very hard instead of soft), two slices of sour dough bread toast, a can of DP and coffee...

Lunch: At Boot Hill, a turkey roll, chips and water.

Snack: Peanut butter on slice of sour dough bread and a DP.

Dinner: We visited the Lions Club at Burdette Kansas. They provided a "meal" of:

  • pepporoni pizza with pinapple (which I sanatized and I gave to Kathie),
  • a meat pizza contaminated with varioius veggies such as onions and cooked crap veggies,
  • a desert of slices of pasta with sugar sauce drizzled over it,
  • bottled Diet Pepsi and
  • coffee...
There were only two pizzas, a pizza with something like black berries on it and the aforementioned sugar coated stuff. All together, there wasn't much food for the size of the group and the choice of meat pizza contaminated with veggies was a particularily aggreviating one!

Snack: A peanut butter and honey samwhich made on a slice of sour dough bread and a gin-n-tonic to wash it down...

22 January 2008

Breakfast: Shit on a shingle (the meat and gravy meal at Burger King), their potatoe thingies and a small coffee. They were supposed to add a least two packets of ketchup but didn't...

Lunch: Two sloppy joe samwhiches at Boot Hill Muesum (the second on one slice of hamerger bun), a bag of potatoe chips and water.

Snack: After I got home, I had peanut butter and honey on a slice of sour dough bread, a can of DP and a cup of coffee. This was a bit excessive and I regreted the coffee...

Dinner: Healthy Choice Grilled White Meat Chicken & Roasted Red Pepper Alfredo Sauce (With Linguini Pasta & Broccoli Florets) and a can of DP.

Snack: I am feeling very hungry so I decided to have my last South Beach Diet Breakfast Wraps All American and some water. The alternatives were

  • Those cheese crackers - the thought of eatting them gagged me tonight or
  • Those little Oreo cookies - way too much sugar!

21 January 2008

Breakfast: Cherrios and coffee and a can of DP.

Lunch: At Kathie's work place: a small container of yogurt with strawberries, two small oranges and a slice of sour dough bread with Tillamook Cheddar Cheese on it. This samwhich was grilled and I cooked and ate it at home...

Dinner: Healthy Choice® cajun Style Chicken & Scrimp (Chicken Breast & Scrimp With Rice & Vebgetables In Cajun Style Sauce) and a can of DP.

Snack: Six small Oreo cookies...never have bad snacks handy if you suspect you'll be hungry after eatting a "good" meal...

20 Januiary 2008

Breakfast: At the Topeka Ramada Inn:
  • scrambled eggs,
  • coldish "fried" potatoes,
  • two slices of toasted stale bread with grape jelly,
  • two patties of sausage,
  • coffee and water

Lunch:We stopped at Arby's for a meatball sub, chips and a largish "Diet Pepsi"...

Dinner: From A&W, a burger, fries and a glass of Diet Root Beer (which I didn't finish...)

19 January 2008

Breakfast: At the Topeka Ramada Inn:
  • cold scrambled eggs,
  • coldish "fried" potatoes,
  • two slices of toasted stale bread with grape jelly,
  • three link sausages,
  • coffee and water

Lunch: Mexican buffett with tacoes (2), enchaleta, red rice, hamberger and chunked steak and water...

Dinner: salad, three small pieces of pork roast, small amount of potatoe and a hugh amount of string beans (which I didn't touch), three rolls with butter and water. Desert was cheese cake with an overly sweet strawberry topping. Good though...

I had forgotten to bring my evening pills so I took them with a piece of dark choclate. This "food" was supposed to stave off the diaherria that comes with taking my 1000mg of Metformin sans food but that didn't work this time...

18 January 2008

Breakfast: Left over steak, boiled rice and a can of CP

Lunch: Various items at Pizza Hut:

  • salad,
  • two types of meat pizza,
  • an overly sweet apple struttle "pie",
  • bread sticks with tomoatoe sauce and
  • two glasses of "Diet Pepsi".

Snack: We hit the bar at the Topeka Ramada and I had a bottle of MGD and a gin-n-tonic...

Dinner: At the Topeka Ramada for the 2008 Lion Mid-Winter Rally:

  • Salad,
  • potatoe (small amount!),
  • mystery meat -er- "chicken fried steak,
  • two rolls and
  • a very small amount of carrot cake.
I drank water and iced tea with dinner.
I was horrified by my blood sugar reading of 250! It just did not make sense that it would or even could be that high!

16 January 2008

Breakfast: Oatmeal and coffee

Lunch:At Casey's Cowtown (in Dodge City):

  • well cooked roast beef,
  • mashed potatoes with white gravy,
  • cottage cheese and a little wedge of tomoatoe,
  • a fresh and hot roll and butter (the best I've had there in ages!),
  • two glasses of "Diet Pepsi"

Dinner: Cheap steak (I ate maybe 70% and Kathie perhaps a ¼ of hers), broccoli and a baked potate with sour creamme and margarine. I drank a "real beer" (MGD) with dinner.

15 January 20008

Breakfast: Burger King for SOS, their potatoe thingies, coffee and a can of DP.

Lunch: We went to the "Long Branch", the place that was so shitty! Kathie talked with the owner (since she wants him to do the meals for her Lions Convention) and he appologized for the crappy service we had the last time we were there. He had fired the bad chef.

That was a start...

Anyway, I had a steak samwhich, fries and 2 glasses of "Diet Pepsi" (or so they said it was...)

The service was quite good, the food good and I think I can recommend the place...

Dinner: Hamberger boiled with wine and Worchester sauce, rice and some cabbage. Plus, a glass of water; I have to check my blood sugar tonight...

Pre-Bed Snack:

Monday, January 14, 2008

14 January 2007

Breakfast: Aunt Jemima pancakes and sausage plus a can of DP.

Lunch: Low fat yogurt mixed with strawberries, two little orages and some water.

Dinner: We went to the Pawnee Rock Lions Club (where Kathie gave a speech). They had

  • roast beef,
  • mashed potates,
  • white pepper gravy,
  • rolls and
  • what appered to be homemade vinilla ice creamme!
This was excellent!

Pre-Bed Snack: Two hard boiled eggs plus a gin-n-tonic. A strange combination I know but I'd forgotten to take my metformin to the meal and therefore had taken it around 9:40 PM. Any way, the next morning, my immediate after waking blood sugar was 100! This was about 4:40 am. I walked from about 6:20 am to 6:50 am and tested the blood again shortly after 7 am. I wanted to see if the sugar level had gone done but it had actually gone up to 108!

Wierd shit, this blood sugar...

Sunday, January 13, 2008

13 January 2008

Breakfast: Kathie's big breakfast of
  • scrambled eggs,
  • bacon,
  • No Serra Lee alas...
  • coffee and
  • a can of DP.
I got hit with Diarrhea less than an hour after breakfast and then again, about 1½ hours after breakfast, while shopping at Dillions (fortunately, past experience has taught me where their "Men's Room" is...) I don't know if it was the bacon (very greasy) or if something is going around...

Lunch: Hamberger, tomatoe soup with oyster crackers, a couple of pieces of very dark choclate and a can of DP.

Snack: A piece of sour dough bread with peanut butter and a can of DP. I wasn't all that hungry but thought I would be by the time I went to work. After eatting this, I regreted doing so...

Dinner: Healthy Choice® Cafe Steamers Cajun Style Chicken & Scrimp (Chicken Breast & Scrimp With Rice & Vegetables In Cajun Style Sauce), an apple and a can of DP.

Snack: A small piece of choclate.

10 Januiary 2008

Breakfast: Left over beef stew, a can of DP and come coffee.

Lunch: At Casey's Cowtown: "French Dip" samwhich, fries and two glasses of "Diet Pepsi".

We were there for the Lions Board of Directors meeting and got put in an out of the way room. "Our" Waitress said "we're short one person and we may not be able to serve you very quickly". They sure did honor this promise!

After all seven of us arrived, we started waiting for the waitress to show up. Finally, I looked out the door, saw the owner (Mike Casey) and yelled: "Hey! Mike! We're ready to order." Then, I went back into the meeting room and the meeting got started. When it looked like we were in danger of finishing the meeting without getting to order lunch and were talking of "where are you going for lunch?", "our" waitress showed up.

Her first question was "are you all on the same ticket?"

"No!" I will admit I was a bit grumpy, even surly, when I answered this. Hunger tends to make me bitchy.

She was disappointed as that meant no group tip and she couldn't get away with slow service still getting a tip...

Well, slow service would have been due to other groups of impatient folks. We might not have had enough bodies to be worth worrying about?

Snack: They had an office luncheon so I had some of the left over ice creamme at work...

Dinner: Healthy Choice® Cafe Steamers Cajun Style Chicken & Scrimp (Chicken Breat & Scrimp With Rice & Vegetables In Cajun Style Sauce) and a can of D.P.

Snack: The rest of the bag of cheeze-its left over from last night.

Wednesday, January 09, 2008

  • corn,
  • a nice roll with butter and
  • two glasses of "Diet Pepsi".

Snack: A piece of dark choclate...

Dinner: Healthy Choice® Cafe Steamers and a can of DP.

Snack: Some cheese crackers; I didn't eat them all.

8 January 2008

Breakfast: At a hotel in Grat Bend Kansas, 2 eggs over easy, hash browns, two slices of whole wheat bread toast and coffeee.

Lunch: At the same hotel, buffett for

  • fried chicken (breast and leg),
  • mashed potatoes with white gravy,
  • some kind of wile rice and meat and gravy stuff,
  • salad and
  • water and coffee.
It was too much to eat and I felt like I had a lead weight in my gut most of the way home...

Dinner: A Burger King Angus burger, fries and a largish "Diet Pepsi"...

Pre-Bed Snack:

Monday, January 07, 2008

7 January 2007

Breakfast: Oatmeal and coffee.

Lunch: Homemade beef stew and a can of D.P.

Dinner: Dinner at a "bar" co=located with the Perkins in Great Bend, Kansas. It was garlic mashed potatoes, four slices of deep fried chicken strips, a very small container of brown gravy and a roll with butter. I drank horrible tasting "Diet Coke" with out ice (and that meant just a small amount of ice...)

Pre-Bed Snack:

Sunday, January 06, 2008

6 January 2007

Breakfast: At the "Hotel In Old Town":
  • poor scrambled eggs,
  • link sausage,
  • shredded potatoes with catsup,
  • two slices of strange bread with grape jelly,
  • an English Muffin, toasted, with grape jelly and
  • coffee.

Lunch: At Olice Garden, their salad, speghettie with three meat balls and two glasses of "Diet Coke".

Dinner: I made

  • corned beef,
  • cabbage,
  • potatoes and
  • carrots
and a glass of water...

Pre-Bed Snack: Two gin-n-tonics...

Saturday, January 05, 2008

5 January 2007

Breakfast: Oatmeal and coffee.

Lunch: We went to Popeyes and I had:

  • three pieces of overcooked bland chicken,
  • "dirty rice" (which was cool rather than wam as I'd hoped for...) and
  • a large "Diet Coke"

Snack at the Movie: Popcorn and some kind of "Sam Adams" Amber-ish beer.

Dinner: At "Old Chicago" in Wichita:

  • Salad with French dressing,
  • lazanna,
  • some apple cobbler-like stuff with vinilla ice creamme and
  • a bottle of MGD.

When did they have to replace Michelob Lager with that God-Awful "Michelog Ultra"? When did Americahns lose their taste for real beer???

Pre-Bed Snack: Two gin-n-tonics...

Wednesday, January 02, 2008

2 January 2008

Breakfast: Aunt Jemima pancakes and sausage and a cup of coffee.

Breakfast#2: They were having the farewell breakfast for a co-worker and I expected them to have glazed donuts (something I can resist...). Well, they had the donuts there but also freshly made pancakes and sausage cooked the night before and warmed up this morning. So, I had a couple of pancakes and several sausages and a cup or two of coffee and some "no sugar added" (I hope!) orange juice...

Lunch: "Apple Pie" flavoured yogurt and two little oranges (brandname "Little Cuties") and a can of D.P.

Desert: After I went home, I had a slice of the choclate cake Kathie bought on the 1st. It was quite good...

Dinner: Marie Callender's® Fettuccini with Chicken & Broccoli (Chicken Breast in Creamy, Alfredo Sauce) and a can of D.P. This meal was way too damn salty!

We're talking 1180mg Sodium or 49% my daily allowance.

Like I don't get any other salt during the day???

The meal tasted too creamy when I was eatting it and it was only after I was nearly done that I noticed the salty taste. So, now I sit here thinking I should drink some more water - a lot
more water! - and try to flush the salt through me. I'm being treated
for high blood pressure as well as the type 2 diabetes and I purely do not need this salt! Now, to add to the fun, I'm feeling nausiated.

Well, it was my own damn fault as I didn't feel like eatting the South BeachTM Diet food or the Lean Cuisine or the "Steamers". It was "stoopid" (to quote a Little Abner character) and I will be eatting some kind of "Steamer"
meal tomorrow nigth. Tentatively, breakfast will be oatmeal and lunch a
repeat of today: "Lite" yogurt mixed with fruit (Strawberry?) and a
couple of "Little Cuties" (easy to peel little oranges...)

31 December 2007

Breakfast: A big bowl of cherrios and Splenda plus a cup of coffee.

Lunch: Two slices of balloyna, two little oranges and a container of strawberry yogurt and a can of D.P.

Dinner: Left over beef stew from the other night and two (2) cans of D.P. (I figure that I'll be staying up past midnight to have some "champaign" so I could afford the excess caffine so close (5 hours) to bed.)

Dinner#2: I was still hungry so I had a small bowl of stew. I have enuf left over to have stew again tomorrow night...

Snack: Still hungry, I had a little bag of Austing Cheese Crackers with Peanut Butter and a glass of water. I don't which did it but I'm now feeling a bit sick to my stomack...

We popped the cork off a large bottle of "champaign" and drank three glasses each; we had a lot left over...

30 December 2007

Breakfast: We went out to breakfast at the local truck stop and I had:
  • Two eggs, over medium,
  • a 6oz well cooked hamberger patty,
  • hash browns,
  • two slices of whole wheat toast with grape jelly (always a good tasting but bad choice!) and
  • several cups of decent coffee.

Lunch: Salad with two hard boiled eggs and cottage cheese plus a can of D.P.

Dinner: We went to Montana Mike's for a "you're going to be working nights so this'll be our last night out for a while" [to quote me wife] and I had

  • salad with French dressing,
  • 16 oz Ribeye steak (their "Mountain Momma") and I made sure the waitress knew I wanted medium well and not medium rare (or room temperature, as I swear my steak was done at ...),
  • fully loaded baked potatoe,
  • no veggies...
  • two glasses of "Diet Pepsi" and for desert,
  • this desert consisting of
    • a brownie,
    • vinilla ice creamme,
    • fudge sauce and
    • whipped creamme (not low fat either!)

They gave us my "Diet Pepsi" free since we were in an area with a major cold air draft. It was quite localized and quite cold but we just put our winter coats over us like cloaks (at least I did and Kathie did right before we decided to leave...)

A nice pair of recipies... (muffin meatloaf and potatoes)

I'll have to try them out. That URL is:

Breakfast: Creamme of wheat, a slice of sour dough bread, a can of D.P. and coffee

Lunch: A container of orange yogurt, a deep fried chicken breast, two little oranges and a can of D.P.

Dinner: Left over turkey, gravy, dressing and smashed mashed potatoes and a can of D.P.

Pre-Bed Snack: One and a half gin-n-tonics...

I don't know if it was the left overs or the gin-n-tonic but something sent me into the bathroom to do the finger-down-the-throat-to-induce vomiting about 2 hours after I went to bed. I don't know if my digestion is going bad on me or if I just can't drink much anymore...

27 December 2007

Pre-Breakfast Snack: A cheese cracker snack thingie and a can of D.P.Lunch: From Sonic, a "toaster-2-burger-cheese samwhich, fries and a large "Diet Pepsi". I had to ask for extra bags of catsup. The woman who brought the food said our request for extra catsup had been honored but she put an additional six (6) bags of catsup in. We ended up with a total of eight (8!) bags of catsup which meant the Sonic management thoguht two (2!) bags of catsup counted as a lot! Wow!!

Breakfast: Jimmy Dean Breakfast Bowls Bacon (Eggs, Potatoes, Bacon &

Cheddar Cheese) and a can of D.P.

Lunch:

26 December 2007

Breakfast: Healthy Choice® Cafe SteamersTM
Chicken Margherita (White Meat Chicken Withy Angwel Hair Pasta &
Roasted Garlic In Balsamic Vinaigrette Sauce), a can of D.P., slice of
coffee cake and coffee.

Lunch: A low fat strawberry yogurt, a very small amount of creamy cole slau and water.

Dinner: Leftovers:

  • turkey,
  • mashed potatoes (made with sour creamme!),
  • dressing,
  • gravy,
seconds of the above and
  • pumpkin pie with low fat "Cool whip" and
  • a coffee cup of White Zin with dinner!
I had thought of having eggnog with rum but from the way my stomach felt, I thought that would be a very bad idea.

It was...

Knowing that "Pink" (Pepto Bismol) prevented me from vomiting the last time I felt ill when going to bed, I drank a goodly slug of the stuff. It didn't have the usual rumbling effect however but I didn't worry about that. About an hour or so after getting to sleep, I started feeling the usual pre-symthoms:

  • liquid coming up into my mouth and
  • occasional coughing and
  • finally, a feeling that I was going to "blow chunks" soon...
So, I did the inevitable. I went into the bathroom, stuck my finger down my throat once and the vomiting started! (That one throat tickle was good for three "up Charlies -er- "Chucks". I still didn't feel much better so I did the "tickle routine" one more time for one more "display"...

I sometimes wonder if the
uvula
has any purpose other than to make it easier to vomit?

The amazing thing is how much liquid comes up. I have to think that my body is investing a lot of bodily fluids in digesting and it all goes down the toilet.

So, why don't I just drink some water?

Historically speaking, drinking water at night nearly always stuffs up my nose...

This is a bad thing.

Anyway, I felt a one-time-return to the sympthoms about an hour after "blowing chunks" but it quickly went away and I slept fine. Oddly enuf, I wasn't any more thirsty at 3:27 am (on the 27th), when I made and drank my first coffee of the "new work day". (This cup of rather poorly made instant coffee was my first shot of liquids since before I'd gone to bed the night before...)

Here is a lovely quote from the wikipedia article:

Universal Emetic

Patients that suffer from bulimia nervosa, an eating disorder, tend to take the uvula to their advantage. Massaging the uvula causes the gag reflex to initate and expell stomach contents.* Massaging the uvula is the universal alternative to ipecac, but should not be practiced as it can result in damage to the lining of the esophagus and other long term health problems such as rotting of the teeth and gums.

"No shit, Sherlock?"

There is something about the way this photo was taken that reminds me of a different area of the body (in a manner of speaking). It reminds me of a so-called private part of a woman'.

23 December 2007

Breakfast:

Lunch: A really large hamberger from a slab o' hamberger that Kathie hand formed and a can of Campbell's tomatoe soup and a can of D.P.

Snack: Bag of popcorn and a large "Diet Pepsi" at the local theater (and Kathie thinks that I pee a lot is simply a sign of my being a diabetic...)

Dinner: A nice and large roast, potatoes and carrots boiled with the meat and gravy. I drank water...

Pre-Bed Snack:

Saturday, December 22, 2007

22 December 2007

Breakfast: An All American breakfast wrap and a can of D.P.

Snack: Several dinner rolls

Lunch: At McDonalds for a:

  • Double Quarter Pounder without cheese (it had cheese anyway),
  • "French" fries,
  • Diet Coke without ice.
So, were there problems? Oh, yeah!
  • The hamberger came with cheese ,
  • the "French" fries were limp, cold and bad.
I spilled the "Diet Coke" when I put the tray onto the table. They (the store owner) gave me a free refill anyway. I tipped the fellow who cleaned up after me ($1); he earned it!
We haven't eatten a berger meal at MaccyDee in years and it will be even more years before we expect to go back...

Dinner: Lazanna (from a pan of the frozen shuff) and a glass of water.

Pre-Bed Snack: Gin-n-tonic...

21 December 2007

Snack: What little Prime Rib I had from day before yesterday.

Lunch: A small container of strawberry yogurt, two little oranges and a peanut butter samwhich and a can of D.P.

Dinner: Home made tuna noodle casserrol with a lot of extra cheese and a glass of water.

This turned out to be a good meal choice as my 2-hour-past-eatting blood sugar was not only good but was better than my I-just-woke-up score this morning!

Pre-Bed Snack: a gin and tonic..

Thursday, December 20, 2007

20 December 2007

Breakfast: A McDonald's "Large" Breakfast, which consisted of

19 December 2007

Breakfast: Breakfast: An A and W breakfast burrito and what appeared to be shredded potatoes (which demanded lots of catsup!) and a glass of what might have been "Diet Pepsi" mixed with a bit of "Diet Root Beer" and something else. We could not tell.

I went there after working out at the Sheridan Center (walking on the track, actually...) and I don't think we'll be going back for breakfast there again...

Lunch: We had our office Christ Mass party and lunch was:

  • mashed potatoes,
  • turkey,
  • dressing,
  • gravy,
  • two rolls,

Dinner: We went to the , which is the restaurant at the "Dodge House". Kathie had high hopes for this place. After all, some of her co-workers had liked their lunch a week or so before. On the other hand, a friend of ours complained of very poor and very slow service and inferior food. Another couple agree with this negative opinion. We decided to check it out...

Unfortunately, we have to go with the negative opinion...

We arrived about 5:50 pm and entered. We began waiting to be seated. That only took about four minutes.

It was after 6 before we got waited on. We did not order from a waiter; we had to order drinks from the woman who seated us. She had no idea which white wines they had so Kathie order3ed a gin-n-tonic.

About 6:05 pm to 6:10 pm, a waiter arrived and we ordered an onion ring.

About 6:18 pm, "our" waiter finally arrived to take our order. (I say "our" with irony because he was putting his time in on dealing with a large group.) I ordered a 16 oz Prime Rib, done medium, baked potatoe with everything that comes on a baked potatoe, French dressing [on my salad] and more water.

Kathie ordered much the same but with the 14oz Prime Rib.

About 6:35, Kathie commented that the waiter seemed to be "taking the long way around to avoid us" and I think she was right! "Our" waiter seemed to be trying to avoid us.

About 6:42 pm (roughly), we finally got our salads. Then, a couple of minutes later, we got the onion ring. It was quite good.

At 6:50 pm, "our" waiter wondered back over and Kathie askeed "where is our dinner? Have they lost our order?" "Our" waiter said "no".

About 6:50 to 6:55 pm, "our" waiter finally arrived with our dinners. The waiter handed me Kathie's Prime Rib and vice versa. I had to tell him to switch the plates (he still had Kathie's plate on his hand).

The outside rim of my Prime Rib was done and the meat was warm to the touch but the fucking thing was clearly very rare. I was pissed and thought of sending it back. However, I have heard too many stories of potatoes disappearing when the properly cooked steak is properly cooked. Then, too, I was hungry and had eatten most of the Prime Rib by the time "our" waiter came back.

I showed the steak to "our" waiter and said "does this look like rare to you?"

He said "yes".

I replied "well, it's supposed to be medium!"

"Oh."

I do not recall '"our" watier offereing to have my steak properly cooked...

We told "our" waiter that we didn't hold this very slow service against him. "Our" waiter repleid that the main cook was "out sick" and the replacement cook "didn't really know what he was doing". We agree and I bitched to the woman who seated us.

She asked us "did you send it back?"

I replied "no, given how slow the service was, I had no idea how long it would have taken!"

19 December 2007

Breakfast: An A and W breakfast burieto and what appeared to be shredded potatoes (which demanded lots of catsup!) and a glass of what might have been "Diet Pepsi" mixed with a bit of "Diet Root Beer" and something else. We could not tell.

18 December 2007

Breakfast: Marie Callender's ® Salt -er- Country Fried Pork Chop with Cheddar Bacon Mashed Potatoes, Gravy & Vegetables and a can of D.P.

Lunch: Long Dong John Slver's for their "Number four" (fish "planks", chicken "planks", insipic French Fries, a very small about of decent cole slau and a large "Diet Pepsi without ice". TGhat drink came with a huge amount of ice. I'd like to see what I would have gotten iff'n I'd asked for "extra ice, please".

Snack: A piece of that choclate silk pie and I felt much better so I think I've been slightly hypoglysemic today...

Dinner: We bought a "we-make-it-you-cook-it" pizza at Wally World. My "side" was all meat and tasted good. I drank an MGD and later had a gin-n-tonic. A couple of hours later, I woke up thinking I was going to barf. As I was getting out of bed, my wife told me to take some "Pink" (Pepto Bismol). That shit really worked well and I kept dinner down...

16 December 2007

Breakfast: Left over Spaghetti and two (2) cans of D.P.
I'm a little pissed off that our precious and latest version of "Word" was absolutely useless in finding the spelling of "Spaghetti"! I had to go on-line and Goodle for the spelling! Bummer!!
It also irritates me that a proper noun (and a name no less!), "Google", is being used as a verb! What is happening to the state of written English in this country besides cultural illiterates on TV???

14 December 2007

Breakfast: South BeachTM Diet "All American" Breakfast Wrap and a cup of coffee.

Breakfast #2:
South BeachTM Diet "All American" Breakfast Wrap and a cup of coffee.

Lunch:
Burger King Angus Burger, fries and a large "Diet Coke with no ice (which meant it only had a small amount of ice...).

Dinner:
Homemade spegethie sauce and a loaf of "French Bread" (baked from dough from a tube) and water (I couldn't find a bottle of MGD). I had a very, very good blood sugar level: 129!

My spegethie sauce recipie:
  • two pounds of 80/20% hamberger (meat/fat),
  • three cans of spegethie sauce,
  • a couple of table spoons of brown sugar,
  • "Italian" seasoning and
  • some pepper.

I bought a largish "choclate silk pie" from a local "PTO" (Parent Teacher Organization) at a local "Middle School" (read "Junior High" for us old farts...). It was horribly rich and quite good and I seriously must either take it to work or ask Kathie to take to her work so that I'll be spared the temptation of eatting it. After all, I have a

hanging over my head...
I had some bad reactions to my dinner...

Before I had the pie, I was feeling stuffed and knew that I should blow chunks. It seems my stomach does not empty very quickly or efficiently these days. I was in bed from about 7:30 pm to about 9:40 when I realized it wasn't getting any better. So, I went to the bedroom bathroom, put my finger down my throat and several barfs later, I felt a whole lot better.

The second thing was more subtle: my younger cat was sleeping at the end of the bed where my feet should normally be. I didn't want to bother her so I tried sleeping "kitty corner" and that just hurt my legs and lower back. I took a couple of (anti-)pain pills. That didn't really help. I then put on some Ben Gay and it burned a lot and that pain hid the pain of the back.

I finally had enough about 10:25 pm and moved the silly cat. Pain ended and I actually got to sleep before Kathie came to bed.

Tomorrow night (actually tonight as I'm writing this on the 15th), the cat will be moved should she be in the way of my feet...

6 December 2007 or "Vomit early and avoid the rush!"

How was dinner? To paraprhase Vir Koto "It tasted good going down but not so good coming back up..." Yup! That was my dinner!

Breakfast: Jimmy Dean Breakfast Bowls Sausage (Eggs, Potatoes, Sausage & Cheddar Cheese) and a bag of Cheese-Its plus a can of D.P. and a cup of two of coffee...

Snack:Six little Oreo cookies and coffee...

Lunch: An "origional" Burger King chicken samwhich, large fries and a "Diet Coke, no ice please..." It tasted quite adequate.

Dinner:Cheese and Broccoli Chicken

Soup
and chunks of baked "French Bread". I bought a can of "French Bread" and baked it before eatting dinner.

The soup tasted fine the first several spoonfuls but then it started to taste like something was off. That could not be true, I had used fresh ingredients, clean cooking pots and flatware and had not undercooked it. (i.e. the chicken was well and truly done, well boiled) I had seconds because
  1. I was the cook and
  2. I was hungry
  3. and I didn't want to wake up hungry the next moring (I did anyway...)

I washed the dishes, feeling more and more sick to my stomach as time passed. So, I said the magic phrase my wife loves to hear:

"I'll walk the dog."

I then took my dog outside, insured the two back doors were locked (they were, of course) and went to the fence on the north side of the yard. (We have no neighbors there.)

I proceded to stick my finger down my throat three times and barfed over the fence onto the "neighbor's" yard. I could tell my body wasn't quite ready for vomiting as it took some effort to trigger my gag relex; on the other hand, I could easily tell that I would have woken up with vomit in my mouth had I not done this before going to bed...

My wife hates it when I vomit.

As I was drifing off, I found myself composing "vomiting songs". The only two of these "wonderful" lyrics I can rememger are:

"Putting your finger down your throat ain't so hardbarfing in the neighbor's yard...
If you like irony, consider that I was reading a "foodie" article ("San Sebastian on Six Meals a Day") on Slate before I decided to update this (on the 7th. I went back to the article and realized that most of the food the author thought was wonderful would be stuff that I wouldn't have touched...

Pictures of soup being made...

There is something mysterious about the sight of a closed pan. Is this dinner being cooked or simply a closed pan?

Here is "French-Bread-from-a-can" being a cooked.

Bread ready to be torn into pieces, "buttered" and eatten!

This is melted butter with flour mixed in and the mess cooked.

Here is the water, bouillon cubes, chicken, broccoli, salt and pepper, mixed and being cooked.

Here is the flour mixture being blended into the soup.

Another shot of the above blended ingredients.

Finally, I was now blending in the creamme.

05 December 2007

Breakfast: Left over "stewed" chicken and rice from last night and two (2!) cans of DP and some coffee (very small amount). Oh and a couple of choclate chip cookies that I made last night...

Conference-at-work-snack:
A dognut. Prior to an office conference about ten years ago, one of my co-workers sent an email to the office at about 4 am and he meant to say "I'll bring a fine selection of donuts" but said "I'm bring a fine selection of dognuts"...

Oops and yes, I've screwed up far worst at the time of the morning...

Lunch: At Casey's Cowtown:

  • Chicken Fried Chicken with white gravy,
  • mashed potatoes,
  • roll and butter,
  • a small bowl of cottage cheese with a slice of tomotoe (vice some green veggie) and
  • two smallish glasses of "Diet Pepsi".

Dinner: Tuna noodle casserol (composed of
  • expensive tuna fish,
  • lots of boiled noodles,
  • a couple of handfulls of grated sharp cheddar cheese and
  • crushed "Lays Origional Potatoe Chips"
and to "wash" it down with, a bottle of Real Beer: MGD! (none of that "light" or "lite" dog piss for me!!!)

Desert: A Muselnix decongestant tablet but I didn't need to use the inhalior. Ah, you probably thought I was talking about something decadent to eat, desert wise...

Breakfast: Aunt Jemima pancakes and sausage, coffee and a can of D.P.

Snack with movie: Popcorn and a couple of chunks of dark choclate.

Next snack: Some sour dough bread with Tillamock sharp cheddar cheese melted on it and a can of D.P.

Lunch: Subway samwhich meatball and a glass of "Diet Coke" or "Diet Pepsi".

Snack: At the American Red Cross Blood drive: A bowl of "potatoe soup" (actually a brouth with chunks of cooked potatoe in it), lots of carrots and two cups of coffee (and a glass of water)

Dinner: We went to the Ulysses Kansas Lions Club meeting (I've forgotten which restraunt) for their Christmas Dinner. Kathie was the speaker so we ate free and we ate

  • a nice salad,
  • small amount of turkey,
  • scoup of mashed potatoes with gravy,
  • scoup of dressing,
  • a very small bite of sweet potatoes (not as bad as I feared it would be),

  • a couple of glasses of water!

It was a nice meal.

02 December 2007

Breakfast: Cremme of wheat, part of a large chunk of sour dough bread toasted in the oven (part fell through the grill and onto the heating element...) and coffee.

Lunch: A nice SirLoin steak, baked potatoe, boiled broccoli, a couple of little pieces of fudge and a can of D.P.

Snack, ill advised!: I went to Dairy Queen to get a choclate milk shake; I had origionally thought of a vinilla cone dipped in choclate but decided this was too risky to eat on the way to work; I did not want to spill it on me! When I got up to the window, they handed me the ice creamme cone I'd thought of. I said "I wanted a choclate milk shake! The girl looked abashed; it was late and I didn't want to be late to work so I said "I'll take that anyway. Also, I didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to return my change and pay for the choclate milk shake they would then have to make me. I now have a better idea of why some folks seems to take forever at the drive up window: they're waiting for their screwed up orders to be made right!

Dinner: Healthy Choice® Cafe Steamers Chicken MCargherita (White Meat chicken With ANgel Hair Pasta & Roasted Garlic In Balsamic Vinaigrette Sauce) and a can of D.P.

Pre-Bed Snack:

1 December 2007

Breakfast: We went out to breakfast. I had one of the two "specials":
  • patty sausage,
  • two eggs over medium,
  • real hash browned potatoes (not the fried mashe potatoes I had the other day!),
  • whole wheat toast with grape jelly and
  • several cups of decent coffee and a glass of ice water.

Lunch:
Something quick and bad for me. I fried some corned beef and put it between two slices of hand sliced sour dough bread, with mustard and a can of D.P. I also had a can of Campbell's Tomatoe soup.

Dinner:
A Hunbgry-Man (1 lb) Classic Fried Chicken (White & Dark Chicken Pieces with Mashed Potatoes, Corn adn a Brownie) and a can of D.P. I know that I should have had something good for me but I've eatten so many "good for me" meals lately and have little to show for them. So, fuck it! I'm going with "bad for me" tonight and I'll get "back on the wagon" tomorrow...

Pre-Bed Snack:
