20 June 2010

Breakfast: Kathie's Big Breakfast of fried bacon, scrambled eggs and
Serri Lee Coffee Cake (my contribution is to butter up the Serri Lee and
nuke it)

Lunch: At the Italian Restaurant at the Garden City Airport, spaghetti
with their meat balls and meat sauce, two or three home made rolls and
Diet Pepsi.

Dinner: The leftovers of my home made spaghetti (inferior to that cafe),
a peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich and iced water

potatoes, well cooked bacon stripes, a couple of well cooked disks of
sausage, what must have been cheddar cheese scrambled eggs, coffee and
iced water

Snack: a small piece of sliced turkey in a wrap and a sip of some God
Awful "energy drink" (even Kathie didn't like it...) and then a small
bottle of ice cold water (rather hard to screw up the taste of water!)

Lunch: home made speghettie sauce (2 pounds of hamberger, 2 cans of
tomatoe sauce, around 1/4 cup of red whine, two tablespoons of brown
sugar) over noodles and garlic bread with coldwater

Dinner: Marie Callender's Beef & Broccoli (Sliced Beef with Rice &
Broccoli in a Savory Sauce) and iced water...

17 June 2010

Breakfast: Jimmy Dean bacon, egg, cheese and potatoe breakfast with coffee

Lunch: left over pork chop and mashed potatoes and iced water

Dinner: chicken mixed with a can of Campbell's creamme of chicken soup and boiled white rice

The chicken was pre-cooked, "cubed", chicken breasts from Dillions. It was rather fatty and not very good; I didn't mind giving chunks of the "chicken" to my dog.
A couple of hours after going to bed, I had been hacking and coughing and went to the bathroom to get some water. I abruptly rfou8nd myself vomiting. I had not idea that I woujld be getting sick. It was the first time I spontaneously vomited in a very long time; normally, I have to induce vomiting when IU am feeling ill. Of cource, this isn't something I can admit to my wife...

16 June 2010

Breakfast: oatmeal and coffee

Lunch: At Casey's Cowtown: chicken, mashed potatoes with white gravy and salad with French Dressing

Dinner: At Casey's Cowtown:

  • salad with Thousand Island Dressing,
  • a very nice 12 oz Ribeye steak,
  • baked potatoe with butter and sour creamme,
  • bisquit vice a roll (My wife was very upset about this substitution)
  • Creame Bolue (I was upset because Mike Casey did not have Bacardi 151 for the flaming part. I ate the silly thing even though it wasn't as good as it would be if it had been heat through by the burning booze...)

My wife got Mike Casey talking about the finances of trying to run a restraunt and that are daunting. Four years ago, Mike said he had a bar tender, hostess and four waitress at night. Last night, he had himself vice the bartender and hostess and two waitresses. "Our girl" worked well given that she had a number of tables; unfortunately, there were not a grat number of customers...

Pre-Bed Snack: a gin-n-tonic...

15 June 2010

Breakfast: from Bugger King, their SOS, potatoe thingies and coffee

Lunch: plain yogurt with frozen strawberries (I guess you lose weight
from feeling rotten after eating this?) and later, a peanut butter and
grape jelly sandwich at home

Dinner: two pork chops I fried in the cast iron fry pan, two little
baked potatoes (with cottage cheese) and applesauce.

The thing about the case iron skillet is you can not wash it with soap.
So, I scrapped out as much of the oil, chunks of pork that stuck to the
pan and the extra virgin olive oil I used to fry the pork chops. Then, I
filled the fry pan with boiling water and stirred it up, scrapping the
bottom of the fry pan. This looked like a weak soup before I poured the
liquid down the drain. I dried the pan, pour salt into it and scrubbed
the pan with the salt. Leftover grease on my supposedly clean pan turned
the salt a light brown. When I thought I'd gotten up as much residue as
I could, I poured the salt out (into the sink), rinsed the pan with cold
water, dried it well and rubbed the pan with fresh virgin olive oil.
After the coating, I removed as much of the olive oil as I could and
then left the pan on the stove. I'll wrap it in paper towels tomorrow
and put it back with the pans in the stove drawer.

My father in law told me that any food he couldn't get off with
scrapping would get left on the pan. I guess this is what the cook books
mean when they say using the cast iron fry pan leaves great tastes behind?

15 May 2010

Breakfast: oatmeal and coffee

Lunch: left over spaghetti from the other day and coffee

Dinner: the Relay For Life hosted a Barby from a van: I had a pulled
pork sandwich, potatoe salad and water. I was still hungry so I had a
bowl of cottage cheese mixed with grape jelly (to my wife's disgust) and
water and then a double gin-n-tonic (it tasted too good so I'm wondering
if I have any dietary deficiency; on second thought, I am a diabetic so
of course I do...)

Later, I kept spitting up stomach juices and ended up vomiting about 1.5
hours after I went to bed; just another case of eating too late and
possibly eatting the wrong stuff...

Friday, May 14, 2010

13 May 2010

Breakfast: from Sonic, a bacon egg burieto, Tater Tots and coffee (I
ordered a diet-Cherry Lime Ad for Kathie and they gave us a non-diet
drink. I should have checked the receipt...)

Lunch: from Casey's, chicken (that was very dry and needed the white
gravy I later asked for), baked potatoe, corn and water

Dinner: an Arby roast beef samdwich, curley fries and water

Later, my stomach was bothering me and something had clearly upset it; I
ended up barfing and then I was able to get solid (not fitful) sleep...

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

11 May 2010

Breakfast: grits and coffee

Lunch: yogurt with frozen strawberries, later, three deep fried chicken
legs (less what my dog begged from me!) and a bottle of Diet Pepsi

Snack: I planned on having salad for dinner (around 7:30 pm) and about
5:25 pm, I was getting very hungry. So, I ate part of a pork chop and
some rice that I had at work (left overs from 6 May)

Snack: some Oreo cookies...

Sunday, May 09, 2010

9 May 2010

flavoured pork "SOS" over fried potatoes, a bisquit with grape jelly,

Cheddar Cheese) and coffee

Lunch: pork chops and rice and water...

Cinco de May-oh 2010

Breakfast: oatmeal and coffee

Lunch: at Casey's Cowtown: hamburger and fries with water

Dinner: left over speghetti and a beer; later, a gin and tonic (to
paraphrase Vir Coto: "It tasted so good going down, not so good coming
back up." One of these days, I finally realize that eating poorly
drained hamburger will screw up my stomach and give me the vomiting an
hour or so after going to bed; in my defense, I felt ill before I
micro-nuked the leftovers...)

Thursday, April 29, 2010

29 April 2010

28 April 2010

Breakfast: left over steak and baked potatoe from night before last and
coffee

Lunch: At Casey's Cowtown: chicken fried chicken (overcooked), mashed
potatoes and brown gravy. They didn't bring out the usual roll and the
quality of the meal was inferior to Mike Casey's usual high standards.

Dinner: Marie Callender's Meat Lasagna (with Ricotta & Mozzarella
Cheeses in Hearty Marinara Sauce), a banana and cold water

Snack: popcorn

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

27 April 2010

Breakfast: wheaties with a bananna and milk plus a cup of coffee.

I suspect the combination of the usual amount of milk on the wheaties
plus a Muslinix pill gave me an upset stomach well into the morning; I
kept everything down, fortunately...

Lunch: a balony on sour dough bread sandwich, a bag of Cheeze-Its and a
couple of cups of coffee

Thursday, April 15, 2010

14 April 2010

Breakfast: wheaties and coffee

Lunch: at Casey's Cowtown and had chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes
with white gravy, roll with butter and water

Dinner: homemade speghetti sauce, the noodles and water

To paraphrase (because I don't know if I've got the quote correct!) Vir
Cotto to Laneer: "It tasted so good going down; not so good coming back up."

I probably didn't drain enough hamberger fat off when I fried the
hamberger (but I drained a lot off) and that lead to my upset stomach
about an hour after going to bed.

Yes, these two were characters on "Babylon 5" andthe name spellings are
probably wrong...

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

13 April 2010

baked potatoe, two rolls with "butter" and water...

gravy, corn and an apple/cranberry cobbler. All was quite good; I drank

26 February 2010

Breakfast: from McDonald's, a "large breakfast" of a smaller than usual
slice of "scrambled eggs", a potatoe chunk, an over cooked biscuit with
grape jelly and some decent coffee. The best I can say about this meal
is that the coffee was fine. They screwed up the order and gave my wife
the wrong thing so she ended up taking the receipt and what we were
given back to McDonald's and got what she really wanted for free!
(Actually, we'd paid for the items she had to go back to retrieve.)

Lunch: plain yogurt with strawberries and later, 6 of those Little
Debbie sugar donuts. (Can any one say "low blood sugar"?)

Dinner: From the Appleby's take away, some cheese sticks (my wife asked
for "Ranch Dressing" and got "Marinara" instead), a large hamburger,
fries and water

Breakfast: at the Hotel at Old Town, scrambled eggs, ham, chunks of over
cooked pan baked potatoes, an English muffin with grape jelly and coffee
(also, a couple of glasses or Orange Juice - me bad!)

Lunch: at a seafood place in Wichita, a cup of bacon potatoe creamme
soup, small piece of Atlantic Salmon, baked potatoe and "Diet Pepsi"

Lunch: At Casey Cowtown: steak salad, two little crackers, small bowl
cottage cheese and water

Dinner: At Olive Garden in Wichita, salad, speghetti with meat sauce and
meat balls, part of a desert and water

After dinner at the Hotel: two beers

In the past, we normally ate dinner at the "Whiskey Creek", which is
within walking distance of the hotel we were staying at. I would have
one or two beers with dinner and after we got back to the hotel, I might
have a strawberry dacherie or two or an SD and a beer. I could count on
GERP and vomiting after I went to bed. This didn't happen this night! I
felt great! It finally occurred to me that Whiskey Creek steak was
simply too greasy for that late in the night; there were times I was
feeling ill before we even left the "Whiskey Creek". So, my wife and I
decided that we won't be going back there in the future (besides,
Whiskey Creek, as a steak place, isn't anything special any more. We
prefer Casey's Cowtown (cheaper too) or Montana Mikey's (in Dodge) as
their steaks aren't as greasy or expensive...

with Kathie, a double hamberger with fries and two glasses of "Diet Pepsi"

Dinner: Two bierocks and water

Snack #1: mini-Oreo cookies

Since I forgot to bring my evening pills to work with me, I'll have to
eat something when I get home in order to have food in my stomach when
the evening metformin hits it. If I don't, metformin on an empty stomach
can lead to "lower GI distress"...

Sunday, February 14, 2010

14 February 2010

Breakfast: at the Boot Hill Casino restaurant, buffet: SOS on hash
brown potatoes, a roll with honey, several slices of well cooked (and
greasy!) bacon (thank God my cholesterol tests won't be for a while
yet!) and too much coffee...

Snack: about a half glass of "Diet Pepsi" at the Casino. Since I don't
buy DP in the cases any more, having a DP (bottle or from tap) is a
"treat" about on a par with how often I drink a beer. I've found I don't
really like the taste of DP anymore and find beer more to my liking. The
irony is that I no longer like beer all that much...

Lunch: a bowl of Campbell's chicken noodle soup with a peanut butter
grape jelly sandwich (dunked in it) and water

past Friday! Also, part of a bag of Cheeze-Its and iced water

yard and vomited over the fence into the vacant lot north of my house.

Diner: We went to Appleby's and decided to give them a second chance. They have earned their redemption and have redeemed themselves! (Such a nice change from the piss poor service we hae several weeks ago!)

We were seated and a waiter was there immediately. He took our orders quickly and was friendly; a friend of my wife walked over to visit as well. That was nice, even though I was pissed at "our" waiter visiting with the folks across from us last time we went to Applebys.

The food was done correctly and our waiter came by to ask if I wanted another beer and asked if we wanted desert. (I did.)

For dinner I had:

  • a nice steak with
  • baked potatoe and
  • "Death By Choclate" for desert and
  • a lartge beer

This was a nice meal. My angry report was
http://dying-by-fork.blogspot.com/2009/12/bad-service.html

New Year's Eve Celebration, 31 December 2009!

What celebration? I had to get up at 3:15 am the next morning so I was
in bed about 7:30 pm and sleep through midnight. Kathie racked out about
10 pm (or so she told me this morning) and slept through midnight as
well. So, no celebration and if I toasted the New Year, it was with a
sip of water after rinsing my mouth post teeth brushing around 7:10 pm...

We really know how to party! ;-)

Yup, that was irony.

New Year's Eve 2009
